chapter eleven
“I’ll get it!” Chris shouted as he and Justin ran to pick up the
ringing phone.
“No, I got it!” Justin cried, struggling to button his shirt while he ran to
the phone.
Chris grabbed the phone just as Justin reached for it. “Hello?” Chris
crossed his arms while Justin made a face at him and walked away. “Hello?”
Chris repeated, getting impatient. His eyes drifted the the caller ID that read
“anonymous.” “Hello? Anyone there?” Chris asked one last time. When he
recieved no answer he hung up the phone.
“Who was it?” Justin called from his room.
“No answer,” Chris shrugged his shoulders and walked into the bathroom to
fix his hair.

“He hung up on me!” Emily exclaimed when she heard the operator come on. She
slammed the phone down, aggravated. She sighed and looked at the clothes she had
laying on the bed. It was an over-sized Boss sweatshirt and a pair of flannel
boxer shorts that Justin had lent her the week before when she had gone to his
house. She hadn’t seen him since. He had been busy with photo shoots,
interviews, and autograph signings. She hadn’t gotten up enough courage to
call him. Today was the day she would finally call him and his friend hung up on
her! I guess it’s worth another try, she told herself and picked up the phone.
She redialed Justin’s number and waited while it rang.

“I got it this time!” Justin shouted and rushed into the kitchen. He reached
the phone and looked around him. No one was around. Sure, the one time I make it
to the phone, I’m not racing against anyone. He picked up the phone, “hello?”
“Hey...is this Justin?” Emily asked.
Justin could tell it was Emily by her small voice. “This is me. What’s up Em?”
Justin clasped his watch around his wrist.
“Nothing, what about you? What are you doing tonight?” Emily layed back on
her bed, a smile across her face.
“Well I’m-” Justin was cut off by Joey who entered the room.
“We are gonna party like po rn stars tonight!” Joey exclaimed, excited about
going to a club.
“You’re partying with po rn stars?” Emily asked, surprised at Justin.
“No, no, we’re gonna party LIKE po rn stars. That’s my friend Joey’s way
of saying we’re gonna get drunk off of our asses and dance around a club like
morons,” Justin laughed.
“Come on Justin, we’re leaving in ten minutes!” Joey informed him and then
left the room.
“Do you want to call me back?” Emily asked.
“No, don’t worry about it, I have ten minutes. By the way, do you want to
come to the club with us?” Justin asked her, hoping she would say yes.
“Umm, don’t you think I’m just a little too young to go to a real club?”
Emily chuckled.
“Nah, I get in and I’m only eighteen. We have our connections,” Justin
scratched the back of his head.
“I don’t know. I don’t really like clubs all that much anyway. I’m kind
of tired. I’m not going to go,” Emil scrunched up her nose.
