chapter two

Julie began to worry that Brian didn't want their child.

"Brian," she said as he stared at her.

"I'm going to be a daddy!?" he exclaimed happily. Then he engulfed her in a hug.

"Yeah, you are," she said as she began to cry.

"Oh Juls, this is the best news ever," he said as he kissed her. "I love you!"

"I love you too," she said.

"How long have you been pregnant? How long have you known? When's the baby due?" Brian asked excitedly.

Julie laughed at her husband's excitement.

"I've known for about two months now. The baby is due December 1st," she said.

"I've got to tell the guys, my parents, my family," he said happily.

"We will, but not tonight," she said.

She kissed him and then got up. They went upstairs to their room. She lit a few candles and then laid down with Brian. They snuggled close together. Brian put his hand over her stomach and rubbed it.

"I can't believe there's a little person in there," he said.

"Yep, our little person," she said.

"I'll be the best daddy there is. I'll teach him to be the best little basketball player," he said proudly.

"Brian. Will you be disappointed if it's a little girl?" she questioned.

"Never. I'll love our child no matter what," he said. "I can still teach her to be the best little basketball player."

Julie smiled and kissed her husband. Then Brian bent down and pulled her shirt back. He kissed her tummy and then placed his head on it.

In the morning Julie woke up to the sight of her husband lying next to her. She had missed him so much over the last two months, but now he was hers.

Then all of a sudden Julie flew out of bed and into the bathroom. She leaned over the toilet and began to throw up.

Brian heard his wife in the bathroom and quickly got up. He sat next to her and rubbed her back.

"You okay?" he asked.

"Yeah, just a little morning sickness," she said.

Then she got up and cleaned herself. Then Brian took her back to their bed. He sat against the headboard and held her. She closed her eyes as she rested in Brian's arms. He began to sing a lullaby while holding her tummy.

"Singing to the baby already," she said happily.

"Yeah, I can't wait to sing to our child when we put him or her to bed," he said.

"Whoa, there mister. We've got a few more months until that happens," Julie said.

"I know. I'm just practicing," he said.

"Okay, good," she said. "How about we go eat something? I'm starving."

"Sure," he said.

They got up and went downstairs.

"Sit down," Brian said as he pulled out a chair for Julie.

"I'm not broken. I can still cook," she said as she sat down.

"I know. But I'm going to pamper my baby, now that I'm home," he said. "I'm going to wait on you hand and foot."

"How sweet of you baby," she said. "But really, you don't have to."

"I want to, so quit your complaining," he said as he began to make breakfast.

"Whatever you say Mr. Littrell," she said.

Then she got up to get something.

"Hey, what do you think you're doing?" he asked.

"Getting the newspaper," she answered.

"I told you I'm going to wait on you. Now sit yourself down," he said as he kissed her forehead.

She smiled and sat back down.

"Here you go," he said as he placed the newspaper in front of her.

"Thank you honey," she said.

"You're welcome," he said. "So what are we going to do today? Maybe we could have a barbecue or something, so we can tell the guys. Unless you want to wait."

"I don't think you can wait any longer. You're just beaming with happiness, they'll know something's up," she said.

"I know I am. I can't believe this feeling that I have. I'm going to be a daddy," he said.

"We'll be good parents to our son or daughter," she said.

"Yes, we will," he said as he served her breakfast.

"Oh and I'll have to take Liz to help me buy some new clothes. My clothes barely fit me. Before you know it, I'll be a big fat whale," she said.

"No you won't. You'll be a beautiful mommy going to give birth to our child," Brian said.

"Oh, thank you honey. But I don't think that's how I'm going to feel," she said smiling at him.

He smiled and then kissed her. "I'll call the guys later and invite them over. We can have Kevin cook the meat, since it's his job to grill everything," Brian said.

"Sounds good to me," she said.

"Today it'll be just you and me. We can do whatever you want or nothing at all," he said. "It's your decision."

"I'm thinking I just want to spend the day outside in your arms reading a book," she said.

"Perfect. We'll just set up a blanket and spend the day outside. While you read, I'll write some thoughts down for some new songs," he said.

They finished their breakfast and cleaned up. Brian did the dishes while Julie got dressed. Julie went upstairs and changed into a pair of break away pants and one of Brian's T-shirt's.

She grabbed a book and went downstairs. She sat down on the couch and began to read it.

"Babe, I'm going to change and then I'll be back down," Brian said.

"Okay," she said.
