chapter one
Brian sat on his stool gazing at the large audience in front of him. He was about to perform one of the most emotional songs ever. He loved this song because it helped to express what he was feeling, but it hurt to remember what he had lost.
"Ladies and Gentlemen. The Backstreet Boys," the announcer said as he introduced them at the 42nd Annual Grammy Awards.
"Show me the meaning of being lonely," the Boys sang.
Brian's soulful voice filled the air as he remembered one of the happiest moments in his life that somehow ended so tragically.
Flashback
"Juls! I'm home!" Brian yelled as he entered his house.
He had been on tour for the last two months and was relieved to finally be home. He had wanted Julie to pick him up at the airport, but she had something else planned. So instead he got Kevin to drop him off.
Him and Julie had been married for three months and were the happiest couple. He was upset that he only got a month with her before he was on tour again. But they cherished their time together. Julie was understanding and supportive of his career. She knew that he loved to sing, so she didn't mind the month off, but Brian still felt bad.
"Baby, where are you?" Brian called as he walked through the kitchen.
Julie came running into the house as she heard Brian's voice. She ran to him and jumped into his arms.
"There you are," Brian said as he hugged his wife.
Julie had shoulder length light brown hair that was layered. Her hazel eyes was the first thing Brian had noticed when he met her. She also had long slender legs and a gorgeous figure.
"I've missed you so much," Julie said as she kept her arms wrapped around Brian.
Then he picked her up and took her into the living room. He sat down on their chair with Julie in his lap.
She began to kiss him passionately. Then she rested her head on his shoulder.
"What's the matter babe?" he asked.
"Nothing. I was just missing you," she said.
"I missed you too, but now I'm home for good. No more touring for a while," he said. "So where were you?"
"Outside," she said.
"Doing what?" he asked.
"Nothing," she said.
"Come on, tell me," he said.
"Nope, it's a surprise," she said.
"Is it the reason you couldn't pick me up?" he asked.
"You'll see," she said as she got up.
She reached out her hand. He smiled and took it. Then she led him towards the backyard.
"Okay. Close your eyes," she said.
"Okay," he said.
"No peeking either," she said as she led him out the door.
"I won't," he said. "Just don't let me run into something."
"I'd never let my baby get hurt," she said as she held onto Brian.
Then she stood him in front of the table.
"Open your eyes," she said.
Brian slowly opned his yes. Then he stared at the table with a single candle burning. Julie had prepared a meal for them in the cool outdoors. She had set up other candles around the patio along with roses.
"It's beautiful," he said.
"Go ahead and sit down," she said.
"Ladies first," he said as he pulled out her chair.
"Thank you Mr. Littrell," she said.
"You're welcome, Mrs. Littrell," he said as he sat down.
She uncovered the plates that were set in front of them.
"Go ahead and enjoy," she said.
"Mmm, a home cooked meal made by my beautiful wife," he said as he picked up his fork. "So was this the big surprise?"
"Part of it, the rest is after dinner," she said.
"Oh okay," he said.
Then they talked about how the tour went. She told him how her work was going and then they finished dinner. She got up and took the plates in the house. Then she moved the table out of the way so she could hold Brian's hand.
She sat back down and took Brian's hand into hers.
"Brian, there's something I have to tell you," she said seriously.
"You know you can tell me anything," he said. "What is it?"
"Well. . .um. . .I'm going to. . .bring our child into the world," she said.
"What?" Brian asked shocked.
"Surprise! I'm pregnant!" she said happily.
Brian just stared at her with a blank expression.
