chapter four
Isabel quickly rolled out of bed
scratching her leg as she walked out of her room. As she made her way down
stairs she passed a mirror and noticed her hair looked absolutely fabulous.
"Why can't it look like that during the damn day after I try and fix
it." She grumbled walking to the kitchen. She needed some coffee, strong,
hot, coffee. When she reached the kitchen she noticed there were a few new faces
to the table. Her mouth dropped as she looked into the eyes of the young man she
bumped into in Randy's office.
"Uh Isabel dear, say good morning to our guests."
She looked up to see her mother smiling at her, a surprised look on her face.
"Uhh good mm... morning." She stuttered keeping her face on her
mother's, her eyes narrowing at her. "Would you excuse me."
Her father, Justin and Randy nodded. Quickly she made her exit and ran upstairs
to take a shower. She couldn't believe that they were there. Quickly she jumped
into the shower and jumped out just as fast. She could feel herself shaking.
"What's wrong with you girl calm down." Isabel told herself as she
plugged in the hair dryer. Quickly she dried her hair and ran a brush through it
before running to her closet to get something to dress in. She grabbed a pair of
blue jeans and a white tank top. Assembling herself to look half way decent she
flew down stairs to see if they were still there. Like no time had passed
everyone was sitting around the kitchen table talking quietly amongst themselves,
she had to smile at Justin since he was the only one not talking, and by the
look on his face, he didn't want to be there.
Isabel stepped into the big kitchen and smiled at everyone. Her father stood up
and kissed her head while walking to get himself another serving of coffee. She
walked to the table and took a seat. Quickly her mother stood up and served her
some breakfast and her dad brought her a cup of coffee for her self. She
smiled and thanked both of her loving parents and looked up to see Justin
staring at her.
"What?"
He smiled. "Nothin," he turned to his father and smiled. "Hey dad,
why don't you and mom give me that kind of treatment?"
Gail and Clint Davis chuckled and looked at Isabel who was busy eating her bacon.
Randy looked at his son and smiled. "Because you're not that cute."
Isabel looked up and smiled when she saw him wink at her. Justin pouted.
"Oh really?"
Randy patted him on the back and laughed. "We still love you though."
"Yeah thanks."
Isabel snickered and pushed her plate aside when she was done. Her mother looked
at her. "Isabel Sweetie, you haven't even touched your eggs."
She nodded. "I know, I'm not very hungry. May I be excused please? I have a
billion things to do."
She nodded and looked at Justin who right about now looked like he wanted to
kill himself. "Hunny why don't you take Justin with you?"
Isabel and Justin looked at one another. "What?"
Randy and Clint chuckled hearing the two talk at the same time. They looked at
each other. "Isn't that cute, they even think alike."
Isabel rolled her eyes and turned to her father and Randy. "How I would
love to but, I'm going to pick Jesse up and we were going to do somethings."
Gail nodded taking her daughters plate to the kitchen sink. "And, what does
that have anything to do with taking Justin out with you?"
She looked at Justin who was staring intently at his hands like they were the
most interesting thing in the world. "Fine, he can come if he wants."
His head shot up and he looked at her. "What?"
She smiled and began leaving the room. "Bye mom, bye dad, bye Dr. Randy,
come on Justin, haul ass to the car now Buddy."
Gail rolled her eyes shaking her head. "That girl and her mouth amazes me
sometimes."
Clint and Randy laughed as the older woman stood crossing her arms angrily over
her chest.
Justin quickly jumped from his seat and opened his hand sticking his palm out to
his father. Randy looked at it like it were a foreign object. "What?"
Justin rolled his eyes. "Hand over some cash."
A loud laugh escaped his father lips. "What do you think I'm made out of
money? I should be asking you for some money, go on a and get out of here."
Gail laughed and watched the young man run after her daughter. "Well I hope
those two have fun."
Clint shook his head. "Is it me, or did you just set up a date with those
two?"
Randy smiled taking a sip of his coffee. "I hope so, that boy makes me
wonder sometimes. I mean come on he's a good looking kid right? He looks like
the kind that should be beating girls off with a stick, yet he still hasn't
found a girl."
Clint nodded in agreement. "I think you're right, he needs to get out there
and look for someone. How old is your boy anyhow?"
"Nineteen this coming January." Randy looked at him.
Gail took a seat and looked at the two men. "Enough of this, he's already
found one."
The two men turned and looked at her. "Excuse me?" Randy cleared his
throat.
She nodded taking a sip of her warm coffee. "He's found one already, and
her names is Isabel."
"What are you saying Gail?" Clint looked at his wife questionably.
Her dark coffee eyes rolled heaven ward. "Men, you don't understand. I'm
saying that Justin has already found who he wants, and he wants our daughter.
Maybe it's because you're men, you don't see the dreamy looks he has on his face
when she walks into a room he seems to be occupying. It happened yesterday and
it happened again today."
"So what you're saying is, my son... Justin, wants to date your daughter...
Isabel? How can that be? she's older then he is."
"And what's wrong with that? A lot of women date younger men. There is
nothing wrong with an older beautiful woman dating a younger handsome man."
She argued.
Randy nodded. "Okay, we'll see if you're right. I personally don't think so
but then again you are a woman and your kind tend to notice this kind of stuff
more than we do."
Gail smiled. "We will and I expect a big box of chocolates from both of you
when you come to realize that I was right and you were wrong."
"Hey I never said I wanted to be any part of this." Clint put the
newspaper down and looked at his wife.
"I know Sweetheart but I know what you're thinking, you men always think
alike. You think nothing will happen between the two of them and I know
something will." With that Gail rose from her seat and left the room.
Clint sighed shaking his head. "Women, can't live with them, don't try
arguing with them."
Randy smiled grabbing the sports page. "Ditto."
