chapter one
“ Will you dance with me?” a voice asked from behind me. I turned and saw the biggest, softest brown eyes I had ever seen.
“ Sure.” I said, hopping down off the stool at the counter. My best friend had asked me to come here with her. I was glad she did now.
We took the floor and hear whispers all around us. “Crazy” by K-Ci and JoJo came on and he intertwined our hands and he put his arm around my waist. I put my arm around his neck and looked him in the eyes.
“ I’ve seen you around here before. Not here here, but around town.” he said. He looked more and more familiar the more I looked at him.
“ You look really familiar. I can’t quite put my finger on where I’ve seen you before though.” I said.
“ At High Five’s, I was the drummer in the band. It’s not my band, I was just doing a favor for a friend, but you were there. I wanted to talk to you, but I got kind of preoccupied.” he said, getting a tad red.
“ Ah, they were an awesome band. I play drums too ya know.” I said. My band was playing the same club next week and we wanted to go check it out before hand.
“ I could tell by your hands. You have drummer hands.” he said smiling. I just about fell over. His smile was beautiful. Almost as captivating as his eyes. Everything about this guy was just perfect, down to the bright yellow Sketchers that I saw he was wearing.
“ Oh, um, sorry.” I said, my hands had blisters and all kinds of bumps on them. He chuckled.
“ That’s okay, I didn’t notice, mine are the same way.” he said.
The song was over all too soon and we untangled our hands and arms.
“ My band is playing a gig at High Five’s next week on Thursday. You wanna come?” I asked as we exited the dance floor.
“ Sure, I’ll be there.” he said. “ Crap, I’ve got to go. My brothers are
calling. I’ll see you Thursday.” he said as we hugged and he ran off into the mass of people. I sighed and sat down on the same stool as before. My
friend came up to me.
“ Did I just see what I think I saw?” she said. I smiled at her. She never thought I dance.
“ I danced with a real guy Jane, it’s not as much of a miracle than what you think it may be.” I said laughing. Her mouth dropped open.
“ What was the guy’s name you danced with?” she asked. Shit, I knew I forgot something. Wait, he didn’t know my name either.
“ I don’t know. He had brown eyes and long blonde hair. The guy was a god.
Oh, he played drums too.” I said, slightly in la-la land thinking about my handsome prince that came and swept me off my feet.
“ Oh, so he didn’t look familiar at all.” she said
“ Yeah, but he said he was the drummer for the band we saw at High Five’s last week.” I said.
“ Yeah I know that. But didn’t he look a little more familiar than that?” she said. Geesh Jane, give it up.
“ Yeah, but it’s dark.” I said, trying to defend myself.
“ You just danced with Zac Hanson.” she said.
