chapter five
Come on Justin I'm going to be late. I thought
to myself. I honked again and finally he came out and got in the car.
"About time granny," I laughed.
"Funny, no sorry I was eating my cereal."
"OK, then I guess its OK."
"Hi, I'm Amanda Collins. I had an appointment with Dr. Hughes." I told
a short lady at the front desk.
"OK, follow me hunny," I followed her and Justin followed me to the
back of the office and then upstairs. She showed us to an office and then left.
We just sat there in silence until the Doctor came in.
"Good morning Miss Collins. You look like you are feeling a little
better."
"Yeah I do,"
"That's good. Well, who is this? Your boyfriend?"
"Oh, no. Just a close friend. " I corrected.
"Beg my pardon." It was a common misconception. But why couldn't a guy
and a girl just be friends without going out?"Will you just follow
me?" She asked taking me by the hand leaving me with no choice. "We'll
be right back," She said grinning at Justin. She pulled me into a cold room
that smelled of anistetics. She ran a few tests and did some sort of treatment.
At this point I was in tears, I couldn't handle any more of this.
"Could you excuse me for just a second?" I asked leaving the room. I
went back into the room where Justin was waiting.
"Oh you're already done. Can we leave?" He said with his back towards
me.
"I'm not done yet I just couldn't stand it any more." I sobbed.
"Amanda," He turned around and came to me. He hugged me tight and
stroked the side of my face.
"Justin, its just this whole thing is so scary, I am so scared Justin.
Please don't leave me," I begged.
"I won't... I wont." He whispered. I backed away and wiped my face.
"I gotta go back now," I said and headed back to the room I was Just
in. "I am so sorry, I just needed a little break." I apologized.
"Oh, its OK Hun I understand. You're almost done." Dr. Hughes
reassured. It was over about five minutes after that and I went back to Justin.
I sat down in the chair next to him and then Dr. Hughes sat across from us.
"I have some news......" She started to say.
