Christina Maria Aguilera was born on the 18th of
December in 1980. After living in several places around the
world e.g. in Texas, Japan and New Jersey with her dad, a military
man, and her mom, she appears on the national TV show Star Search in 1988. |

Having begun performing in school talent shows at the age of six and
appeared on the US national TV show Star Search aged eight, she joins
the cast of "The New Mickey Mouse Club" at the age of 12 and
remains with the show for two years.

In 1994 she ventures overseas to enhance her
training. While being in Japan she records a hit duet with one of that
countries most famous pop-stars, Keizo Nakanishi. |
|
In January of 1998 Christina started recording
demo tapes for her record deal and records the song
"Reflections" for the Disney film 'Mulan'. |
|
One year later, in June of 1999 she had her first
prime-time TV performance with "I turn to you". One month
later, she released her first single "Genie in a bottle"
,which becomes number one in the US, and her debut album with the name
"Christina Aguilera" which enters the Billboard charts at
#1. |

Later on in December her second single "What a
girl wants" is released and becomes the first number on in the US
charts. She also released the Christmas single "the Christmas
song" and is given the honor to perform for the president of the
United States for Christmas.

The new year started just as eventful as the last had ended. Besides
performing at the Super Bowl Half-Time Show with Enrique Iglesias and as
the only female performer at the VH-1's "Men Strike back"
show, Christina won the Grammy for the Best New Artist and took home two
awards at the 2000 Blockbuster Awards.
