Belly soundtrack

DMX
-1998 has been a good year for rapper DMX (a.k.a. Earl Simmons). DMX released his debut album It's Dark And Hell Is Hot on Def Jam this past spring which produced two hit singles: Get At Me Dog and his newest single How's It Goin' Down (videos for both singles were directed by Hype Williams). Even before his album release, we heard him on LL Cool J's 4,3,2,1(remix) and on albums by Mase, Mic Geronimo, and Cam'ron. He even beat out 2000 other actors for the lead role in Hype William's movie Belly, in which he plays the street hustler character Tommy Brown. Taral Hicks plays his girlfriend. DMX has 2 new tracks on the Belly soundtrack: Grand Finale w/Nas & Method Man and Top Shotter w/Sean Paul & Mr. Vegas.

Nas
-Nasir 'Nas' Jones first surfaced on the rap scene with his debut Illmatic which The Source magazine called a "hip hop classic" because the album "stood as a perfect hip-hop document, ten tight songs created by the best New York producers in the rap game". Nas gained more mainstream popularity with his sophmore album It Was Written which had the singles If I Ruled The World (w/Lauryn Hill) and Street Dreams (both videos were directed by Hype Williams). In 1997, Nas assembled a crew of rappers which included AZ, Foxy Brown, & Nature, a.k.a. "The Firm" and released an album which produced the singles Firm Biz and Phone Tap. In Belly, Nas plays the law-abiding, family man character Sincere. T-Boz plays his wife. Nas has a track on the soundtrack with DMX & Method Man called Grand Finale

Taral Hicks
-Taral Hicks is a up and coming R&B singer/actress. She released her first album This Time in 1997 on Motown Records, which produced two hit singles: Distant Lover and Silly. Her video for Silly was directed by Hype Williams. Taral has also established herself as an actress, appearing in the HBO movie Subway Stories as well as a supporting role in the film A Bronx Tale. She can be currently seen in the new Chico Debarge video Virgin. In Belly, Taral plays Kisha, the girlfriend of DMX's character Tommy.

T-Boz
-Tionne 'T-Boz' Watkins is one-third of the R&B female supergroup TLC. They released their debut album Ooooooohhh-On The Tlc Tip in 1992 which had the singles Baby, Baby, Baby and What About Your Friends. In 1994, TLC released their groundbreaking crazysexycool album, which sold over 9 million albums and had the hit singles Creep, Red Light Special, and the mega-hit Waterfalls. The group stayed out of the public eye for a few years after declaring bankrupcy, but has since emerged to work on their upcoming album Fanmail which should be released later on this year. T-Boz had a very minor role in the movie House Party 3, but will get a major part in Hype Williams' Belly, in which she plays the wife of Tommy (played by Nas).

Method Man
-Method Man (a.k.a. Clifford Smith) is one of the members of the rap supergroup Wu Tang Clan. In 1994, Method Man went solo and released the album Tical. Prior to Belly, Method Man tried his hand at acting, appearing as himself in the films Rhyme & Reason, The Show, and The Great White Hype. Method Man also had roles in the films 187 and Copland. It is unsure what role he has in Belly, but according to Sister 2 Sister magazine, Method Man plays a crazy character. He has a track on the soundtrack with Nas & DMX entitled Grand Finale, and is also coming out with a new album soon. He has a new video out called Judgement Day.

Scarface
-Scarface (a.k.a. Brad Jordan) is one of the rappers of the Geto Boys, and has recorded solo albums like Mr. Scarface is Back, The Diary, The World is Yours, The Untouchable, and My Homies.
