The Riverflood holt is located in a valley in the foothills of the mountains. There is a deep and tempestous river running through it's centre, with a forest of ancient Oak, Beeches and elms. The Holt is located on a small hump, which is almost surrounded by the river as it flows round it. The hometree is a huge ( and I mean huge) oak which roots go so deep, and whos trunk is so wide that it has started growing up the mountain. The holt is there for a mixture of tree, underground basements in its roots and tunnels delved deep into the rock. At the top of the mountain there is a boulder which has been hollowed out by a rockshaper into a comfortable habitation.
Further down the river, the river becomes even wider, and when it flows
into the lake there is a large medevial castle and town. The humans of
this town are extremely superstitious, as the tribe used to be quite larger
until recently, and therefore was left alone. Near the river's source there
is a small settlement of trolls, who don't as yet trade with the elves,
so all metals have been stolen from them. The Glider colony was to the
west, and had been there for many years until a group of human youths took
exception to their presence and smoked them out. They also killed the giant
falcons. All the survivors went towards the Riverflood holt, where they
were drawn by a force beneath the mountains. The High Ones magic is strong
in these mountains, and all the elves with any slight magic have had their
power increased by its presence ( Tarrata's
firestarting, Riverwise's shapechanging/water
control and Tearblade's Weathersense and weather
control and maybe some others too)
