Bright Angel
Chapter 2

Melissa: I took my seat and awaited total destruction of my already tiny ego. I turned around and gave a quick grin to Hillary, who purposely choose a seat directly behind me. The light shut off and the spotlight zoomed in on Mrs. Thompson. As she gave her short opening speech, I felt as if I was going to die and reassured myself again and the night went on. My first act was easy, it was with a fairly large group so it went pretty well. The show droned on and my fear grew as my solo neared. Finally the moment came when the solo before mine ended. I rose slowly with my hands shaking and moved towards the piano. Then the intro started , as I began to sing, I felt all eyes fall on me.
Taylor: “Come on already!,” I thought as a chubby girl with no talent ended her ever so torturing solo. She held the final note, while everyone applauded and took her seat. My gaze, once more rested on the blonde angel in pink as she glided across the floor. The piano started playing and she stood for a moment, hands clasped in front of her nervously waiting for her entrance. The rest of the world seemed to disappear. As the piano slowed down, she took a breath, and opened her mouth to sing. The first note out of her mouth, hard as it was to believe, was even more angelic than her increasing beauty. “What is she doing singing at a high school voice recital?”, I thought. As the Italian song went on, I sat mesmerized by her ethereal presence. When the song ended, she walked back to her seat as the crowd erupted in applause.
Melissa: As Mr. Anderson played the last few measures of the song, I held the final note. When I stopped singing I gave a tiny grin to Hillary, who knew as much as I did how hard it was for me to be up there. I hurried back to my seat as I became showered with applause and I felt my heart would jump out of my chest at the rate it was pondering. I took a deep breath and heard a voice from behind me assuring me that I didn’t do too badly. The show once again droned on into intermission.
Hillary: “Sweetie, you couldn’t have done better!,” I told Melissa as the crowd rose from their seats and scattered like leaves on a windy fall day. “You’ve got to be kidding me!,” she yelled, “I have never shook so much in my life my voice wouldn’t stop wavering either. I could never do worse!” “Then consider it a blessing cause I’ve never heard anyone sing a song like that better than you! I think I feel a tear coming on!” I choked in attempt to bring humor to her sincere fear of how the whole thing turned out. “Shut up!,” she said with a grin on her face. “Well, I’m gonna go search for a bathroom in this huge place, care to help?” “No, I gotta stay here in case they start again, but there’s one on the first floor.” “Gotcha, Adios!,” and I headed towards the elevator.
