Bright Angel
Chapter 16

Taylor: As I let my hands release her small body, not wanting to let go, I instead took her hand in mine and we walked back down the dock together, leaving the silent peacefulness of the lake behind. In less than 10 minutes, the garage door opened and we found ourselves wanting at the back door as Melissa searched through her purse for the key. When I looked behind me, I saw Hillary and Zac hold hands and standing very close. It wasn’t too hard to figure out there status and I was very happy for them. Hillary was a great girl for Zac; he couldn’t have done much better. Then I turned back to Melissa who was finished searching and was quickly turning the key in the lock and opening the door. “Yes,” she exclaimed, ”it was just getting a bit too cold for me out there.” “I’m sorry,” I told her kissing her on the cheek and holding her hand again. “Are we gonna watch the movie or not,” Hillary said, snatching the bag from Melissa’s hand and heading up stairs with Zac trailing behind. Melissa gave me a quick flirtatious grin and, returning it, we followed behind the other two.
Melissa: As I put the video into the VCR, Hillary hit the lights and I took my place in Taylor’s strong arms. The movie was great, as I already knew before, but watching it was even better. Half way through the movie, I started crying, as I usually do when the kid was killed for something that wasn’t his fault totally. And typical to Hillary, she started laughing as loud as she could contain without crying, not at the movie, but at me. I stuck my tongue out at her and told her as politely as possible to shut up. Taylor pulled me closer. As Matt Damon said my favorite lines, “I’ll love you till the day I die,” I felt his warm breath on the back of my neck. I closed my eyes and savored the moment. He whispered sweetly in my ear, “I love you,” and I knew that I felt the same thing for him. I felt something I couldn’t begin to explain. I smiled and whispered softly, “I love you too.” I felt his soft lips kiss the back of my neck. I turned around quickly to give him a little kiss before turning back to watch the rest of the movie. When it the movie ended, the clock read 12:30, seeing how late it was, they both asked to use the phone at the same time. “What time is curfew here,” Taylor asked me, while dialing the number to the hotel. “Curfews at 1,” I told him as he eyed the clock once more. “Uh, Mom?,” he said as the other end of the phone was picked up. “Yea, we just finished the movie…I know it’s late, I’m sorry…well, the curfews at 1…ok, one second,” he said as he held the phone away from his face with his hand over the end. “Um…My mom doesn’t think we could make it back by then and she doesn’t really want me driving so late. Would it be ok if we crash here?” “I’d have to ask my mom, but I’m sure she’d be ok with it if she knew the situation.” “So, that’s a yes?,” he ask me. “Yea, pretty much,” I told him with a smile. ”Cool,” he took his hand off the phone and put it back to his ear. “Yea, we’re going to stay…yes, mam, I’ll be sure to thank her for you,” he said eyeing me with a grin and a wink. I smiled back. “Ok, I’ll call ya in the morning mom…bye,” and he hung up the phone.
