Julia (Lennon/McCartney) The Beatles The White Album (1968) This song is capoed in the 2nd fret and played in C. The finger-picking pattern is easy once you get the hang of it (it is the same for all chords). Once you "get" it you can also play Octopus's Garden and Dear Prudence; they use the same pattern! A hint: the thumb plays all notes on the bottom three strings and uses an alternating pattern that never changes throughout the song. It goes 5th string, 4th string, 6th string, 4th string and then repeats ad finitum. I suggest practicing the picking with only the thumb till you get the rhythm down. The right-hand second finger (middle finger) plays all the notes on the 1st and second strings (if you want to use your right-hand third finger (ring) to play notes on the 1st string, that works too). The right-hand first finger (index) plays all notes on the third string. Now learn the pattern! Also, notice the fingering change whenever John plays a C. The left-hand third finger moves from the 5th string to the 6th in the middle of the chord. Good luck! [Verses: The first two lines only occur in verse 1 and 4. For the other verses, skip down.] CaddG Am7 Em |--3---------------3----------------3----------------3---------------| |------------1---------------1-----------------0----------------0----| |--------0---------------2----------------0----------------0---------| |------2-------2-------2-------2--------2--------2-------2--------2--| |--3---------------0----------------2----------------2---------------| |----------3---------------0----------------0----------------0-------| 1.
