Welcome to the Academic Preparation Course (700-level) at 

National University, Spectrum Center!


The duration of this course is four weeks.    The course is intense and will require your full commitment from the first day of class. As international students you have already invested many long hours in achieving greater proficiency in the English language. This course will assist you in developing the academic skills necessary to enter the bachelor's or master's degree programs in business, science, or technology and foster your self-confidence as you set your goals higher and higher. 


On the following pages, you will find general information and links to Web site resources about topics explored in the 700-level academic preparation course. 


Your daily schedule is as follows:


                      Session I:       9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

                Session II:   10:45 a.m. to 12:00 noon

                Session III:    1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

                Session IV:    2:45 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.


The office in room #185 is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

  • To identify and appropriately apply different types of essays
  • To recognize and effectively use the components of an essay
