Welcome back to another exciting soccer season in West Hempstead.
The board of directors and all of our coaches work very hard to run a successful sports program. With a little cooperation from parents and players, we should achieve that goal.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the West Hempstead Chiefs Soccer Club.
Our 25th anniversary picnic was a huge success.
If you own a business, please participate by sponsoring
a team or taking an ad in the journal. If you do not own a business, please
become a West Hempstead Chiefs Booster. The journal profits allow us to offer
increased training to our 3rd and 4th grade players. Profits from last year's
journal and the indoor tournament allowed us to offer picnic tickets free to
all players and coaches as well as low cost tickets to all families. Our travel
teams also receive training funds.
We have purchased new goals on the large field at Eagle Avenue. The cost was split with the West Hempstead school district. Please keep your children off the goals. The equipment is very expensive and should not have to be replaced for a long time. Unfortunately, we are constantly reminding parents to keep their young children off the equipment on both the small and large field. If your children want to climb on something, take them to the playground.
Congratulatons for Eva Keaveney and Regina Todd's U14 Whirlwinds. The girls won sportsmanship for the spring 2003 season.
The boys' U14 Firehawks are looking for players. If your child was born between 8/1/89 and 12/31/90 and is looking to play on a competitive travel team, please call Anthony Scovazzo at 489-7269.
If your child is looking for a team in another age group, please call Ed Keaveney at 481-0075.
Indoor Tournament
We are looking for volunteers to work on our upcoming winter indoor tournament. Many parents have expressed regret that they are unable to coach but would like to get more involved, here is your chance. Please contact Lorraine Hogan.
