The Thistle Boys became the first team to qualify for the Grand Final to be held on the 15th of February when they did what no other team was able to do this season and defeat the Internationals. It was a superb performance by the Thistle Boys where 'attack is the best form of defence' seemed to be the attitude employed. Two goals by Chris Evans and one each to Matthew Wren and Adrian Poli ensured a hard fought 4-2 victory. The Thistle Boys were certainly up to the challenge as they worked their way to a 3-0 lead with 3 minutes until the half-time break, but the 'wheels fell off' as a penalty and a quick second goal to Chris Slater brought the score to 3-2 at the half-time whistle. The second half was a tight affair with not too many clear cut opportunities but the Thistle Boys converted one of their chances to establish the all important two goal cushion. The final few minutes were frantic and physical but the Thistle Boys held out and went on to claim a spot in the seasons showpiece game.
