The Deep South?

July 23 - By Erik - The 2003 season looks very promising for the NFC South. Led by the defending Super Bowl Champion Bucs and talented Falcons the South looks to have at least 2 teams in the playoffs this season. Last season the so-called analysts said that the South was a cupcake division in which the Bucs would dominate. Those predictions were off by a few talented teams and a couple of wins in the opening weeks of the season, as Tampa Bay opened up the first few games with a 3-2 record and heartbreaking losses to a very impressive Saints squad. However, as the season rolled on the Saints went to there ways yet again and dropped out of the playoff race after losing to the falcons and panthers. Yet, it appears that the Saints could once again challenge Tampa Bay if they do not fall apart by mid-season once again. The Vick led Falcons showed the NFL just how dangerous they could be with a stunning playoff win over the ever dominant Packers at Lambeau on the frozen tundra. On paper this promises to be one of the most competitive divisions in recent history. Only time will tell.
