Climate:
There are actually six different climates. The interior region has a wide range, with summers in the 70 to 80 F/20 to 31 C or higher and winters far below 0 F/-18 C. In south-central region temperature about 55 to 65 F/13 to 18 C in the summer and winters temperature is well below freezing. In Southeast region temperature about 50 to 60 F/10-20 C in the summer and winters are mild and hover around the freezing mark. In Southwest region temperature about 50 F/10-15 C in the summer and below freezing in winter, coupled with lots of wind, snow, sleet and rain. I n Eastern region temperatures average about 60 F/15 C in the summer and about 10 to 14 F/-11 to -9 C in winter. In Northern region is cold year round, with temperature about 40 to 50 F/5-14 C in the summer and winter temperatures well below 0 F/-18 C. From mid May to 1 August, many Alaskans live in near constant daylight. This phenomenon, known as the Midnight Sun, reaches as far south as Fairbanks and Anchorage. Alaska’s coasts and islands can be quite windy.
