Welcome to the Southern Track Classic Web site. This meet is a finals only, by invitation meet. Competitors at the Southern Classic went on to capture 55 state championships in 1999 & 2000. Five National Champions have competed. (Casey Combest, Owensboro KY; James Doaty, Louisville KY; Caroline Harvey, Atlee, VA; J.B. Rossen, Spotswood, VA; and Marvin Urquhant, Western Branch, VA) Many other nationally ranked athletes and N.S.I. finalists have competed at this meet. In the 2000 meet, 61 state meet qualifying marks were recorded. Field events commence at 5:00 pm and the meet concludes by 10:30 pm. The twilight format brings out the best in the athletes. | ||||||

The Southern Track Classic is held at Dinwiddie High School in the village of Dinwiddie. Dinwiddie, Virginia is located just off I-85, 12 miles south of Petersburg, VA. Directions to the site. | ||||||
| FACILITIES | ||||||

The running surface is an 8 lane, 3/8-inch granular latex track. The jumping surfaces are the same with concrete throwing circles. | ||||||
| SANCTIONING | ||||||
|
The meet is fully sanctioned by the National Federation and the VHSL. A very limited number of entries from non-Virginia athletes are accepted. Any out of Virginia athlete must contact meet management by February 1, 2001 to ensure sanctioning. |
