SUCCESS OF THE MONTH

JULY 12- Today I recieved 1 signed card from Mariners' first baseman John Olerud. He didn't sign the card I sent but he signed one of his own. It took about 4 months.

JUNE 30- Well I am back and it has been a while since I have updated. I have been so busy with other activities that I have been drawn away from the hobby for a couple of months. Since my last update I have gotten some success. I have recieved Greg Maddux, Vladimir Guerrero, and John Rocker. There have been others but I really can't remember it's been so long since the last update. I am just starting to get back into the hobby so in the next few weeks check back often as I should have some new success.
This past week my favorite team, Cleveland Indians, have pretty much raised the white flag. They traded the ace of the staff and one of the best pitchers in the league to Montreal. Bartolo was only 29 and he could have been in Cleveland forever. The Indians recieved three minor league players and Lee Stevens. Considering Lee Stevens plays first base you have to wonder if Thome is the next to go. Every team in the majors has a handful of players that they consider "untouchable," or players they won't trade. Who is untouchable on the Indians? Is anyone an "untouchable." The Tribe GM said he wanted to rebuild the team. I would say rebuilding is a little bit of an understatement. A few years ago the Indians looked like the following: Starting in the infield was Jim Thome, Roberto Alonmar, Omar Vizquel, Travis Fryman, and Einar Diaz. The outfield consisted of Juan Gonzalez, Kenny Lofton, and Marty Cordova/Russ Branyan. The DH was Ellis Burks.
Now the infield consists of; Jim Thome (maybe not for long), John McDonald/Ricky Gutierrez, Omar Vizquel(he could go soon as well), Travis Fryman, and Einar Diaz. Not too much change in the infield, but the outfield is a different story. In rightfield is Matt Lawton, but he is injured at the moment. Therefore starting in rightfield is Chris McGruder. In center is Milton Bradley, and in right is Ben Broussard (not sure how you spell it.) The DH is still Ellis Burks, but he is on the end of trade talk as well. After all the changes in Cleveland it has been real tough to remain a Tribe fan. Not too many big names anymore, and not so many home runs flying out of the park. With the All-Star game just around the corner it brings back memories of 5 or 6 guys going from Cleveland. Now, Joe Torre is forced to pick at least one from the Tribe, as none are in the lead to be voted in.
