The club was formed in the 1920's and 1930's as the Grove Tennis Club
The club has had in the past a very close association with Tennis Club of Ranville, a village near Caen in
France.
There are four grass courts and a pavilion where club
functions are held.
It originally played on the present courts and was considered to be a very select club.
During the war it became moribund and the Petworth Park Club was allowed to use the courts.
During 1946 and 1947 the two clubs both used the
facilities and were merged to form the Petworth Lawn Tennis Club.
At one time an annual tournament was staged between the two towns taking place over a long weekend in August or September.
At present we have not had an exchange for two years but there is the possibility of carrying this on as links still remain.
