Adam Eaton started on rehab assignment and worked 3 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 4 hits including 2 homers. The Beavers held on for an 8-7 win. Greg Sain and Ben Johnson supplied most of the offense with 3 run homers while Dustin Delucchi hit a solo shot as a pinch hitter.

Cesar Carrillo(3-0 2.92) continued to show why he was drafted in the first round by the Padres. He tossed 7 innings allowing just 1 run on 3 hits and struck out 8. Greg Kottaras singled, walked twice and scored 3 runs. Steve Baker(2), Joe Gerber(2) and cf Kennard Jones(3) each had multi hit games.

Of the 5 pitchers used by the Padres, only Patrick Clayton failed to allow a run as he struck out the side in the 9th. Otherwise the Mariners rookies pounded the Padres 10=2. Kyle Blanks tripled and drove in a run while Jarol Gonzalez ss had two hits and drove in the other Padres run. LF Javis Diaz had two hits to raise his average to .337 and his obp to .417.
