Rob Bealko's 1988 S/C Calais. Body: The roof and quarter panels are steel, the hood, fenders, doors, and deck lid are made of carbon fiber/kevlar. Overall Length: 211" Width: 72" Wheelbase: 102" Suspension:(front)MacPherson strut. Chassis was built by Warren Franks at ARC. Powered by a 500 cubic inch DRCE. Makes 950HP @ 7895 rpm and 700lbs of torque @ 7000 rpm. Redline: 8700 rpm. Cast iron block GM #24502572 4.600" bore diameter with 14.5 to 1 pistons, Aluminum Rods, 3.750 stroke billet steel crankshaft. Lubrication System is a 7 quart 3 stage external dry sump. Aluminum DRCE heads GM #24502585 Valvetrain: Stainless Steel Valves, Rocker Arms: Jesel billet aluminum, Spark Plugs: Autolite AR12. Ignition System: MSD 7AL. Induction System is a Warren Johnson Magnesium intake with Dual Holley 1050 cfm four barrel carburetors. Camshaft is a Comp Cams roller lifter, .775 lift. Jesel belt drive. Transmission is a powerglide with a JW case. Rearend: MW modular with a 4.89 gear. Performance 8.0's @ 162 mph. Moving up to IHRA Top Sportsman in 2003, we're making some improvement to the engine, adding titanium valves, new sheetmetal tunnelram and different camshaft that should put the car in the 7.80's.
