Testimonials
Fellow Hunters,
I have known Todd for several years. He is an extremely honest and hard working individual. We first started talking about bear hunting before he got his guide license and bear hunting to me was just a dream.
With his encouragement, I started out bear hunting close to my home state of Tennessee and always found disappointment at the size of the bears or lack there of. For several years, Todd kept offering to help me with a bear hunt so we finaly made arrangements in 2005 and I visited Nova Scotia where I hunted with him. The bear hunt that was provided was well beyond my expectations as both Todd and his family made every effort possible to ensure that my hunt and stay in camp was totally enjoyable. The bear sites were very well managed and the sign at all the sites were fresh and BIG. I felt more like family then a bear hunting client. Todd was good to explain bear habits and coach me on how to become a better bear hunter. To Todd, no question is a stupid question. He loves the outdoors and is great at teaching Bear 101. Just don’t ask him for the secret recipe for his bear baits! The country side was rough but beautiful the perfect setting for a big bear hunt and outdoor adventure. I have also included deer hunting with Todd on my hunting list of things to do in the future.
Todd made sure I had all the appropriate forms to get my guns into Canada and explained the process so there were no surprises to get the hunt off to a bad start. He helped suggest the best routes to travel and gave advice on where to get on the ferry boat that takes you from the US into Nova Scotia, so I would get the best rate. He went over currency exchange and let me know I could do that prior to getting into Nova Scotia or just take care of it at the local stores. Once I got to Nova Scotia he helped me get my hunting license and introduced me to the local wardens. He went over the hunt plan, ensured our guns were properly tuned in for ethical shots and made sure safety was number one during our stay. After the hunt he also helped walk all successful hunters through the paper work to get the bears back into the US and his extra help made the whole process extremely easy. He even had local contacts for the processing of the animals or helped with the do it yourself type of processing.
Todd is an ethical hunter and some of his rules were even stricter then the Wildlife Laws. They were good rules geared toward quality bear management, safety and to help ensure the future chance for others to hunt a BIG Nova Scotia black bear. The bait sites were well maintained and freshened before each hunt. He was flexible and helped me hunt when I wanted to hunt and let me hunt as long as I wanted to hunt. He had done his scouting months before the trip and could tell me in detail what size and how many bears were visiting each site. He relayed this information to me on weekly bear updates prior to the hunt so I was able to start getting excited before the actual hunting date even got close! He has proved to be a great friend to me and I respect his hunting, trapping and guiding skills very much. I will never forget the sites and the friendship found on my trip. I will hunt with Todd for years to come, in fact I have this years hunt already booked.
God Bless,

To whom it may concern,
My hunt with Todd was an awesome, and although he was reluctant at that time to refer to himself as a guide, his knowledge & passion about bear hunting, and his desire to share that was obvious right from the start.
During my short visit he showed me a couple of his bait sights & taught me alot about bears & the
methods he has used to hunt them. He also kept me entertained during the drives with hunting stories
of his own hunts as well as a few of the folklore tales from the area.
Todd was very modest, casual & easy going, constantly reminding me that it was my hunt and
wanting to make sure I was enjoying myself & that things were going as I had expected. Things actually went much better than I had expected, and we were headed for the butchers with my bear before dark on my first night.
I would recomend his services to anyone & look forward to hunting with him again someday, and would gladly answer any questions about my hunt with anyone willing to listen.

From David Libby: Maine, USA
My wife and I hunted with Todd in 2005 and had the time of our lives.
Not only did we each get a bear, but we also thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to hunt somewhere a little more remote than we're used to in
southern Maine. Nova Scotia is truly a beautiful corner of the world.
There were several things that impressed me about Todd. His ethics were
virtually impeccable. Not only was he scrupulous in observance of all Nova
Scotia laws, but he actually went further, asking more of us than the
provincial government did. (For example: he required that we watch any bear
for 5 minutes before shooting to make sure that we didn't kill a sow with
dependent cubs).
Todd never gave me any reason to question his integrity in any way. Any
claims he made proved to be true.
His work ethic was unimpeachable. He ran bait for 7 weeks before the
hunting season began, doing so carefully, at times when he was least likely
to spook bears. All his bait sites were active, and when we were at canp he
gave us his best.
Todd is a great bear baiter, and a master woodsman, and Nova Scotia is
prime bear country, where the bruins are plentiful and big. Any hunter who
has an interest in black bear should visit Nova Scotia, and any hunter who
has an interest in Nova Scotia should hunt with Todd Amero.
God bless you Todd - you're a good man. Sincerely, David Libby.

From Lisa Libby: Maine USA
My husband and I went on a bear hunt to Nova Scotia in the fall of 2005
with Todd Amero. It was a great adventure - one that I would love to repeat.
It was to me a hunt of a lifetime. Both my husband and I had excellent hunts
and were blessed to each come home with a bear.
We enjoyed the fact that some of Todd's sites were remote and required
access on the back of a four wheeler. When we hunt around home in Maine we
hear barking dogs and traffic. All we could hear in Nova Scotia was the
pleasant sound of nature.
I am thankful for the way Todd took special care to make sure I had a
great hunt. He took into consideration that I am a woman and made himself
available to sit with me if needed during my hunt. Todd also made sure I was
picked up first after hunting so I was not left in the woods after dark.
These things were not of concern but I appreciated his sensitivity and
thoughtfulness.
We were both impressed wih Todd's integrity and work ethic. He worked
hard baiting the sites for seven weeks before we arrived. Todd knows his
business very well. He loves what he does and it shows. He stands out from
the crowd as a master bear baiter with years of experience. Having a passion
for what he does compells him to give his best. Couple this with the fact
that he lives in the heart of prime bear country and you have a recipie for
success!
Sincerely, Lisa Libby

From Tim Green: Nova Scotia Canada
~As copied directly from Tim's testimony~
sept20th rolled around way too early for me as i drove down to meet Todd and begin my first bear hunt. it . i didn't know what to expect from this but i was ready to try almost anything to get my first chance at a bear.
i met up with Todd and we went to the cabin to get settled in. then we were off to check bait sites
we rebaited and went back for lunch before going back to hunt. nothing except teeth (chomping) but i got excited knowing one was there.
day 2 was the same thing...up, rebait and check trailcam and hunt. nothing special happened but i did get to learn about Todd and his family and some of his hunting skills/beliefs.
day 3 and I decided to try a day hunt at one spot the trailcam said one was coming in regularly through the day. Todd allowed me to hunt on my own and would be back to get me later. he wished me luck and was off. I walked into the stand and waited. it wasn't long before everything paid off.
Todd is a great guide and without his knowledge and skills I would not have gotten my first bear. his family was as excited as I was when they arrived to get me from the stand (only I was out by the road with my bear).
hey Todd got any room for me next year??
