GYMNOS

CODE OF PRACTICE FOR SOCIAL EVENTS

1 Gymnos is a club for male naturists and clothes may not be worn at the social events.

2 Normally our hosts appreciate around a week's notice of members' intentions to be present at social events so that they have a good idea of numbers. There is, however, no harm in making late applications to attend if this is unavoidable but remember to allow enough time for a response if making contact by post, especially if via the club's box number address. It is important that members give the host their name, membership number and a means of contacting them, preferably a phone number.

3 Some hosts are happy to publish their address, some their phone number and some both. Others prefer to use the Gymnos Box Number. If only a phone number is given and you prefer to write, you can of course use the Gymnos Box Number in any case. Put your letter in a small envelope and mark it in such a way that it is obvious for whom it is intended. Then place this envelope in a larger one, enclosing a first class stamp for every letter that you send, and send it to the Gymnos Box Number address. If you expect a written response it is a good idea to send a SAE as well.

4 The club's events are held in the members' homes. Membership of the club does not confer any right to attend a particular event and hosts may refuse admission because of numbers or for any other reason. There shall be no obligation on the club or its hosts to give a reason for refusal of permission to attend an event.

5 Members who arrange to attend an event should let the host know if they subsequently find they are unable to attend. Repeated failure to do this may call future attendance at events into question.

6 We are sometimes asked about photography at social events. Occasionally there is someone with a camera at our parties. This does not mean that members should be put off attending because they do not wish to be photographed. Photographers should ask if there are any present who do not wish to be photographed if they are taking shots which are not specifically posed.

7 Any member who would like advice on using body paints should contact the club.

8 Any member failing to maintain a high level of personal hygiene or general appearance will be asked not to attend social events.

9 Please remember that polite naturists bring a towel to sit on. Members who are likely to need a shower or bath after a massage, body painting or using a sauna should remember to bring an extra towel.

10 Members should normally take a bottle of whatever they prefer to drink.

11 On arrival members should be ready to quote their full name and membership number to the host and to have ready the exact amount of the door charge.

12 Only full members may attend the social events. Members should only ask if they can bring a friend if that friend is prepared to join Gymnos as a full member and does so on arrival at the event. Hosts are free to introduce their suitable personal friends at their discretion. Such suitable friends should be encouraged to join the club.

13 Indecent behaviour at social events is not allowed. Members are entitled to expect that they will not be offended by anything that occurs at our parties, including any behaviour which could be interpreted as voyeurism.

14 If hosts are able to offer overnight accommodation, they will expect members to reserve this in advance.

15 Where a phone number or address is given for a host this must be treated as confidential and must not be used for any purpose other than to make arrangements for attending the host's party.

2 Members only are admitted to the club's sessions on the understanding that they will comply with this code of practice and follow the reasonable instructions of the lifeguards, the club's officials and the pool management.

3 Smoking is not allowed anywhere on the premises.

4 Payment should be made to the Gymnos official before entering the changing area. Last admissions are 30 minutes before the end of the session.

5 No person under the age of 18, or apparently so, will be admitted.

6 Any person apparently under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be admitted.

7 The pool area must not be entered before the start of the swimming session unless the attendant has given permission.

8 Swimmers must not engage in any activity which is deemed by the lifeguard either to be of danger to themselves or others or to impinge on the enjoyment of others.

9 Any form of sexual activity is prohibited. Unwanted sexual advances will be treated as assault and victims should alert the lifeguard or club official immediately. Any person apparently guilty of such assault will not be admitted to the club's sessions again and his membership, where applicable, will be cancelled. Any behaviour which could be interpreted by others as voyeurism is not allowed.

10 Any person failing to maintain a high level of personal hygiene or general appearance will be asked not to attend future sessions.

11 Swimmers will follow the reasonable requests and directions of the club's lifeguards and officials when particular areas of the pool have to be kept clear for instruction and assessment.

12 The side of the pool reserved for "serious swimming" and the pool ends on that side must be kept clear.

13 Weak or non-swimmers should not go out of their depth.

14 Swimmers must not pull or hang on to the ropes that divide the swimming lanes.

15 When in a state of undress, swimmers must stay within the pool and changing area.

16 The pool shall be vacated promptly when the lifeguard sounds the whistle. In an emergency the lifeguard may clear the pool at any time by making the same signal.

17 The building must be vacated promptly after the end of the session.

18 Members must not pass on by any means the contents of the newsletter, social events diary or contact list. Any member doing so is liable to be expelled from the club. The introductory letter and application form may be passed on.
