Sniper tactics

You are the sniper.  The field you play in is the one no one else is supposed to know about.  A sniper is usually a one man team, or two man, one sniper and one scout.  His missions are top secrect and usually top priority.  It is somewhat like a recon, in the sense that you are trying to avoid enemy contact, because whatever shooting you are going to do, is going to want to be some distance away from the enemy, so you have to to scoot while the enemy is still confused and doesn't know what happened.  A sniper does not want to get compromised.   That means that something has happend that has jeapordized his mission, like an enemy seeing him hiding and such.  You, as a sniper, want to get your mission accomplished, but not be compromised.  This is very hard, since you come so close to enemy contact.

Here are some tips to help you:

1. Think plain.   Remember, you mission is to be a sniper, to destroy your target, not to build water traps.  Don't take on the roles of other men while you are a sniper.  You have a tough job to do, and you have to get it done.

2. Be self reliant.  The only thing you rely on is your gun, because without your gun, you cannot accomplish your mission. You don't want to rely on others, maps, radios, etc.  Therefore, you shouldn't carry any of that.

3. In thinking plain, only carry the essentials.   Don't take anything you don't need.  At the most basic level, your gun, and camo.

Basically there are 4 ways the enemy can compromise you, they can see you, they can hear you, they can maybe smell you, or rarely, they can run into you!

To avoid them seeing you:

1.Wear the best camouflage to blend in with your surroundings. This also includes socks, and gloves.

2.Wear a facemask(unless you live in VA, where it's illegal here to wear a facemask!!!!)

3.Wear facepaint.  The only part of you that should not be covered up are your eyes

To avoid them hearing you:

1.  Don't take things that would compromise you.  Don't wear dog tags that rattle.  Take off metal parts off shoes that may make noise.  Tape up zippers.  DEFINITELY don't take a walkie talkie, you don't even want to go there.  Don't take a map, unless you don't know where your going.   But if you take a map, laminate it so it won't crinkle and make noise.

2.  Learn to not talk, especially if working with a scout.  Work out hand signals, you definitely don't want the enemy to hear you.

3. Wear clothes that hug you, so they won't rub together and make noise.

3. Always be aware of where you put your feet.   Be aware of twigs, leaves, and other things that could make noise.  Step with your toes down first.

To avoid them smelling you:

1.Take a showeror bath before you fight!

2. Don't wear any fragrances.  Don't carry food that carries a lot of smell with you.  Don't carry matches, because as soon as you light one, not only does it create a distinct smell, but it's like turning on a flashlight.  Besides, striking and lighting a match actually does make noise.

To avoid them running into you:

Hide in places where you don't think people will stumble around.  If they get really close, keep up your guard, but don't be alarmed, because they probably don't see you.

If they end up running right into you, shoot them and run!

Misc. advice

Make sure you have good, sturdy, light  trail shoes.  Boots get heavy, and you need to get out of your situation fast after you hit your target.

If you are a sniper, you will probably get aquainted with the wildlife on the ground, like bugs.  If you are afraid of getting them in your clothes, wear a jumpsuit to there is no separation between the pants and the top.   Tuck your pants in your socks, button up your collar, and wear gloves.  You don't want to get a bug in your clothes and jump up screaming.  That would not be good for your high priority top secret sniping mission.

When you move, every ten steps, stop, and crouch down, and remain absolutely silent.  This will help bring to your attention anyone who is following you.

Don't be afraid to get down in the dirt.  You will probably have to be doing a lot of crawling.

Before you go into any dangerous situation, make sure your gun is pumped.  You don't want to have to worry about pumping right before you fire at your target.  Also, some pumps are really noisy.  Some guns, such as some models of the Super Soaker CPS-series, tend to sputter when air escapes out of the firing chamber.  To fix this, tilt your CPS gun so that the nozzle is pointing straight up.  This will put the air in the chamber before the water.  Hold it there for a few seconds, then fire until you have water coming out, with no sputtering, you should not have to do this again.  Be aware of where the water exits the watr tank to go into the chamber, so that when you pump it, that hole is pointing straight down to the water flows right down.  You don't want to put air back in the gun's system.
