Falcons Claim 2003 Genies Jamboree! U10 Championship In Dominating Fashion
The DFAC Falcons Blue Team used a stifling defense to smother the competition and take home the championship in the U10 division of the 2003 Genies Jamboree! The running, gunning and pressing Falcons outscored their opponents by a combined 126-23 over their four games and were never seriously threatened. Second place honors went to the Arizona Thunder, third place went to the Lady AZ Silver Streaks and fourth place was captured by the Falcons White Team. Also competing were the Phoenix Phenoms, West Valley Lady Spurs and the host Gilbert Genies 8- and-9-year-old team. The All Tournament team as chosen by the coaches consisted of Jasmine Taliman (Thunder), Aubrey Lincoln (Phenoms), Alli Madison (Falcons-White), Caitlon Rae-Murphy (Lady Spurs), Candice Bomar (Genies), Melissa Brown (Silver Streaks), Hailey Kennedy (Falcons-Blue) and Lauren Lazo (Falcons-Blue). Samantha Browning of the Phenoms also captured the free throw shooting competition at Saturday's intermission.
