Brian S. Giles connected with a 'big fly' as the San Francisco ballclub
defeated the Lake Erie Indians by a score of 4 to 3 at Jacob's Field.

San Francisco took the lead for keeps in the top of the 7th inning scoring one
runner using 2 hits.  After two outs Chris Singleton laced a base-hit.  Giles
was next and he laced a one-base hit.  Chipper Jones then drew a walk to load
the bases.  Jeff Bagwell was up next and he drew a walk scoring the run.
Lake Erie threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.

Jose Lima(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 and 1/3 innings and
allowing no runs. Scott Williamson got the save, his 2nd.  The losing pitcher
was Billy Wagner(0-1) in relief.  He pitched 1 inning and surrendered 2 hits
and no walks.
