"Local Guys Fuel the Bus"- SAN CARLOS, CA October 31, 2001--

Wednesday, October 31, 2001 your hometown Bus Drivers took on the Local Guys in a quest to repeat as Champions for the San Carlos Adult Basketball League.  After wrapping up a tight summer season with an overall record of six wins and four losses, where the Bus Drivers brought home the title with a whopping league record victory outscoring the Masters of Disaster 100 to 38 in the final game, the Bus Drivers now set out on a mission to go back-to-back.

After a daunting start, winning only 1 of first 3 games of the season, the Bus Drivers are now back on track winning two straight with an overall record of 3 and 2.  The winning streak was fueled on Wednesday night at the Tierra Linda Middle School Gym where the Bus Drivers dueled the Local Guys.

The Bus Drivers were solid all around and showed definite signs of maturity as they passed the mid point for the fall 2001 season.  Though they were without the contribution of superstar Casey Harmon (career:  180 rebounds/8.2 per game, 274 points/12.5 per game – on injured reserve from to much Tenacious D) and rookie of the year Jed Crowe (on injured reserve with a broken metacarpal resulting from a sumo wrestling match with a 750 pound gorilla in game 3) team BD was able to generate havoc by creating turn-overs galore and capitalizing on poor Local Guy shooting.

Four out of five Bus Driver warriors were in double digits for scoring on the night.  Perennial all-star Joseph Herrera posted a double-double with a career high 19 points, 14 rebounds, 2 steals, 6 assists, and a monster 4 blocks.  Joseph leads the team in total career rebounds with 227 and blocks with 47.  Joe tops the stat sheet in blocks per game with a 1.8 average and is on a mission to lead the team in average rebounds at 8.7 per game (just behind current career average leader Brian Wallin with 8.8)

Teammate Anthony Valdez followed in suit with his second consecutive double-double of the season with 14 points, 14 rebounds, 5 steals, and 6 assists.  Baller-extreme Valdez consistently brings mad game to the court posting 360 career points and averaging 12.9 per game.

New man on the floor, play-maker Paul Hakimian, opened the flood gate in both halves by scoring the first points of each session.  Paul showed no signs of being new to the team by integrating seamlessly in the Bus Driver hoop-play, posting 4 points, 5 boards, 1 steal, 2 assists, and 1 block.  Look for Paul to play a key role in the Bus Driver’s quest for back-to-back titles.

Phillip Trinidad, #22, ripped the net with a career high 32 points, fed by multiple assists from #30 (Jo-Jo Bigz), #1 (Dancin’ Antz ND Pantz), #7 (Fresh Ball Paul), and #23 (Dave “check out the size of my” Huang).

Jordanesque (Bulls not Wizards), Dave Huang (#23) posted 11 points, 3 boards, 2 steals, and four assists on the night adding to the 82-58 romping of the Local Guys.

The Bus Drivers will continue their quest for the title next week when they meet Royal Glass Wednesday at 7:00.  The game was covered live by STVN (Sandra Television Network) and all the latest info on your favorite San Carlos Adult Basketball Team is available at www.angelfire.com/sports/busdrivers brought to you by STWP (Sandra Trinidad Web Productions).

"Furley's Detour Bus Drivers"- SAN CARLOS, CA February 28, 2001--

Wednesday February 28, 2001 the Bus Drivers wrapped up their last game of the regular season against the undefeated Furley’s.  The Bus Drivers struggled in the first half falling behind early on.  They closed out the first half down only scoring 11 points to the Furley’s 29.

This has become a Bus Driver trade mark that can not continue if they expect to be successful in the post season.  In order for team BD to consistently win games in the playoffs they must come out strong.  Giving the first half away is not a formula for success.

Despite the team’s struggling general offense, baller at large Casey Hoops Harmon had a breakthrough game.  Harmon posted 9 boards and 19 points in the game.  Harmon was 50% from the arch and shot over 60% overall from the field.  Harmon’s lead was difficult to follow.  Scoring runner up was Tai Ly with 8 followed by Joseph Herrera with 5.  Rounding off the final score was Anthony Valdez with 2 points and Dave Huang with 1.  Yee, Trinidad, and Harlow were donut holed in the scoring column.  Trinidad was especially poor going 0 for 2 from the line and 0 of 8 from the field.

Another sore area of the stat sheet for the Bus Drivers was from the charity stripe.  The Bus Drivers were 2 of 9 from the line, where the Furley’s were 15 of 19.  With 5 minutes left in the game, led by hero Harmon the Bus Driver’s made a ravishing come back attempt which would bring them as close as only 5 points down; however, as the last seconds ticked off the clock the Furley’s went out on top with the final 43 to 35.

The Furley’s closed out the regular season in first place at 7-0, followed by the Bus Drivers in second at 5-2, third was Smithers Law Firm at 5-2, and fourth was Royal Glass at 4-3.  The Bus Drivers will take on Smithers Law Firm next week in the first game of the post seaon.

"Local Guys Go For a Ride"- SAN CARLOS, CA February 21, 2001--

Last Wednesday at the Tierra Linda Middleschool Gym, the mighty Bus Drivers took on the Local Guys in their sixth game of the season.  Faced by heavy adversity (due to the absence of members Valdez, Trinidad, and Harmon – see travel report), five battle veteran warriors took the court and shouldered the weight of defending the Bus Driver basketball empire.

Early in the contest, with only five men, the Bus Drivers employed an energy saving strategy by playing zone defense.  This defensive tactic resulted in heavy casualties.  The Local Guy’s were able to capitalize on the open outside shot opportunities posting a very high shooting percentage from the field.  Though the Bus Drivers led for most of the period, championed offensively by Tai Ly who led the team with 25 points on the game, the Local Guys knotted the score at 24 at the close of the first half of play.

Realizing that the life in the universe as we know it was at stake, the Bus Drivers shifted to warp speed in the second half and transitioned to man defense.  Big man Joe Herrera fueled Bus Driver flame in drastic fashion swatting 1 shot, grabbing 10 boards, dishing 3 assists, ripping 2 steals, and adding 6 points for the game.  Ball handler Mike Yee posted a season high 9 points including a momentum turning 3 pointer, as well as adding 2 steals and 2 boards.

Adding to the Bus Driver lead, Dave Huang showcased mad skill affixing 8 points, 1 steal, 3 assists, and five rebounds to the stat sheet.  As always, stone cold inside monster Graham Harlow not only led the team in rebounds with 15 for the game, but also put in 2 assists and 4 points.

As the final minutes rolled off the clock the Bus Drivers sealed the victory led by Tai Ly who topped the stat sheet in points (25), steals (3), and assists (4).  The game ended with the Bus Drivers on top 54 to 34, and set the stage for the final regular season game against the Furley’s.  The Bus Drivers will meet the Furley’s next Wednesday at 8:30.  The game was covered live by STVN (Sandra Television Network) and all the latest info on your favorite San Carlos Adult Basketball Team is available at www.angelfire.com/sports/busdrivers brought to you by STWP (Sandra Trinidad Web Productions).

TRAVEL REPORT:

Team members Anthony Valdez, Phillip Trinidad, and Casey Harmon were unable to make the San Carlos game because of a prescheduled journey to Hollywood where they auditioned in an open casting session for the Three Musketeers.  They will return to the line up next week because they are all terrible actors.

"On The Road Again"- SAN CARLOS, CA February 7, 2001--

In their forth matching of the season, coming off of a heartbreak zone-defense loss to Royal Glass, the Bus Drivers took on the Weebles at Tierra Linda Middle School.  The Bus Drivers returned to their winning ways, showing off their ability to evolve by successfully overcoming an aggressive Weeble zone defense, with the final 58-37.

Several areas of outstanding play led to the Bus Driver victory.  The first major contributing factor in the Bus Driver win was the outstanding team effort in the rebound column.  The team combined for a season record 59 boards with three players in double digits (Hererra 10, Harlow 13, and Trinidad 14).

Secondly, a swarming merciless defense, led by savage inside-deny-man extraordinaire #30, Joe Hererra, overwhelmed the feeble Weeble.  Hererra led the team in steals (4) and blocks (3) and contributed 9 points and 2 assists to the victory.

On the offensive end of the court basket savvy front man #1, Anthony Valdez, was red hot with the deep ball going 4 of 7 from the arch and adding 7 rebounds.  While raking in a team leading 18 points, Valdez impressively showcased unselfish play to dish an also team leading 4 assists. David Huang #23 followed in stride with 3 assists, 8 boards, and 4 points.

Graham Harlow #7 (3 points) was a force to be reckoned with.  Harlow would not be denied off the glass, snagging 13 boards.  Point guard #9 Tai Ly continues to lead the team in assists per game with 3 as well as compiling 3 steals, 7 rebounds, and 6 points on the night.

#22 Trinidad closed out the game to cover the spread with a last second off the glass (unintentional) 3-point shot.  Trinidad had the first double double of the season with 18 points and 14 boards.  Though #8 Mike Yee and #3 Casey Harmon were unable to attend (see travel and injury report), team Bus Driver was able to pull out the win.  Yee still leads the team shooting 100% from the charity stripe.

This win puts team BD at 3 and 1 for the season with an average margin of victory of over 17 points.  The game was covered live by STVN (Sandra Television Network) and all the latest stats, news, and information on your favorite San Carlos Adult Basketball League team is available at:

The Bus Drivers next game will be February 21 at 6:30 due to a forfeit by Smithers Lawfirm on the 14 (Valentines Day).

LIVE WIRE TRAVEL REPORT:

#8 Mike Yee was unable to participate in Wednesday night’s game due to an imperative trip to Las Vegas to place bets on the game versus team Weeble.  Yee cashed in his PTC stock (worth an estimated $50) and let it ride on the Bus Drivers who were favored to win by 20.  The final score, 37-58, covered the spread and Yee walked away $50 dollars richer.  Trinidad, who hit the 3 to beat the spread in the closing seconds is under investigation by the league directors and local authorities to find out if he was involved in any illegal gambling activities.

LIVE WIRE INJURY REPORT:

#3, Casey Harmon, was unable to participate in Wednesday night’s game due to severe digestive abnormalities.  Harmon’s physician, Dr. Nohoop Kuzpewkenpoop, denied #3’s participation saying, “It’s like Mr. Harmon’s stomach decided to open both exits and say, ‘everyone out’.”  Harmon should return to the lineup pending successful completion of an experimental laser rectal fusion surgical procedure.

"Bus Stop"- SAN CARLOS, CA January 31, 2001--

Last night the Tierra Linda Middle School Gym in San Carlos, California was the sight of high drama when the dream season of the powerhouse Bus Drivers was detoured by a first half nightmare.  Team Bus Drivers met team Royal Glass in their first matching of the season.  As game time approached members of the Bus Drivers were witnessed nonchalantly posing for website pictures and joking about scoring 100 pts each in the upcoming duel.  Much to their chagrin the twenty minutes to follow would bring heartache and pain to team members as well as fans around the world.

The Bus Drivers came out in the opening minutes looking like deer in the headlights; facing a zone defense for the first time.  Turn over after turn over led to a seemingly insurmountable Royal Glass lead.  Team Royal Glass smothered the Bus Drivers with a swarming zone defense that dashed passing lanes picking lazy Bus Driver passes almost effortlessly.  To pour salt on the Bus Driver open wound team Royal Glass converted multiple full court passes to undefended pull-men/cherry pickers to go up by high double digits at the end of the half.  With half the game over team Bus Driver had scored a measly 12 points.

With an undefeated season on the line and a #1 league rating at stake, the Bus Drivers cranked it up a notch in the second half.  Though they still suffered multiple casualties from the zone defense they mounted a comeback and at one point actually went up by two on a heroic three point shot by #3, Casey Harmon.  The experience and composure of the well-schooled Royal Glass was too much for the Bus Drivers and again in the final minutes with the game and an undefeated season on the line, the Bus Drivers fell victim to turn over influenza.  As the final seconds approached it was Bus Driver ball with Royal Glass up by 3.  The ball was inbounded to sure shot #1 Anthony Valdez.  Play maker Valdez spun to his right, squared, and unleashed the deep 3 ball with a defender in his face; unfortunately for Team BD, the Cinderella story tonight was team Royal Glass.  Time expired with the final score Royal Glass 50, Bus Drivers 47.

With a season record 19 turnovers and only 12 points in the first half the Bus Drivers were delivered a wakeup call spanking that will not be forgotten.  Mentionables in the losing effort were #9 Tai Ly (4 points) with 8 grabs off the glass closely followed by #3 Harmon (7 points/2 steals) with 6 boards.  Valdez (4 points/3 rebounds) and Herrera (6 points/3 rebounds) split 8 steals with 4 a piece; while Harlow added 2 steals, a rebound, and 6 points.  #22 Trinidad contributed 20 points in the loss.

When STVN CEO Sandra Trinidad was asked why the team was called the Bus Drivers she responded, “Because they all work for School District 9.”  All statistics, news, and pictures can be seen on the official Bus Driver web sight produced by STWP Inc (Sandra Trinidad Web Productions Incorporated) at:

The Bus Drivers’ next game will be Wednesday, February 7 at 7:30 against The Weebles.

"Get On The Bus"- SAN CARLOS, CA, Jan 24--

In their second game of the season, the Bus Drivers loaded up team Hoopsters and took them to school.  In a sound thrashing session the authoritative team BD eased to victory over the less than impressive Hoopsters, 70 to 34.  The win is their second in a string of  whopping lopsided victories in the San Carlos Adult Basketball League pushing their season average margin of  victory to 26.  This win establishes the Bus Drivers as the team to beat.

The Bus Driver’s victory was fueled by the addition of 7’2” – 105 lb. inside man, Joseph Herrera.  Joe pulled down 8 boards, dished 2 assists, blocked 1 shot, and stacked up 13 points in his first contribution of the season.

Though the team was without the experience of ball handler Tai Ly (see injury report), point guard by committee Valdez, Yee, and Trinidad proved to be highly successful.  #1, Valdez, lit up the net to bring 13 points; shooting 5 of 6 from the line, as well as adding 1 steal, 2 assists, and 6 rebounds to the stat sheet. Without Ly in the game, #22, Trinidad, led to pick up the slack in the steals column with 6 thieveries accompanied by 10 boards and 25 points for the game.

Pounding the glass and controlling the lane was stone solid big man, Graham “Tall Cracker” Harlow.  Tall Cracker called all bets to show off a winning pair of sixes (6 boards and 6 points) bringing his season average to 6.5 boards a game.

Posting season personal highs in points(7), assists(3), rebounds(6), and travels(3); was main man David Huang.  Huang dazzled fans combining his two patented moves: the low post curl jump shot from center lane and running without dribbling the ball.  After the game when asked about his second patented move Huang was quoted saying, “I knew I forgot something.”

In response to the supplications of old reliable forward, Casey Harmon, the gods smiled upon the Bus Drivers.  Harmon was quoted saying prior to the duel, “I sacrificed a small goat last night and dribbled its blood on my jockstrap to please the gods, in hopes that The Bus Drivers will emerge victorious from tonight’s battle.”  The goat’s blood on Harmon’s jockstrap did not outwardly appear to hinder #3’s agility as he soared to convert an NBA all-star ally-oop in the first half and in paramount fashion grabbed 9 boards, 2 assists, and 1 block for the game.

Adding depth and consistency to the fiend hooping Bus Drivers was #8, confident coast-to-coast ball man Mike Yee.  Yee leads the team in free throw percentage, shooting an unbelievable 100% from the line.  Yee closed out the game hitting a dead-eye nothing-but-net jumper with just seconds left on the clock.

Replays of the now classic victory can be seen on STVN (Sandra Television Network).  Celebrity guest STVN CEO and executive producer of last nights coverage, Sandra Trinidad, was live at the game to hand out the Bus Driver’s new uniforms.  A web sight will soon be available for the Bus Drivers pending trial disputes over domain names.  The Bus Driver's next game will be Wednesday, January 31 at 7:30 in the Tierra Linda School Gym against the Royal Glass."

INJURY LIVE WIRE UPDATE:

Point Guard Tai Ly had to sit out last night's game against the Hoopsters after his physician, Dr. Kent Pley-Humpstumuch, demanded he take the week off to recover from a back injury he inflamed while putting the ball in the hole.

Ly should return to the lineup for next weeks game against the Royal Glass pending level of activity in bed rest.

SAN CARLOS, CA, Jan 16--

"In the inaugural game of the City of San Carlos Parks and Recreation Adult Basketball League the Bus Drivers took on the Iscribe Rockets last night January 16, 2001.  Though early on the Bus Drivers struggled trailing by as many as 4 points due to multiple turn overs and missed shots by #22 Phillip Trinidad, the perennial powerhouse fought their way back into the game sparked by the sharp shooting, lane crashing efforts of #1 Anthony Valdez.  Then with the first half of the game on the line the monster balling Bus Driver's pulled to a 7 point lead on the auspices of league leaders #9 Tai Ly (steals) and #7 Graham Harlow (rebounds).  The Bus Drivers closed out the first half of play in breath taking fashion to go up by 9 with an ultra fast break coast to coast last second shot by #23 David Huang.

In the second half, the board-pounding-dead-eye Bus Drivers turned it up a notch to go on a 25 to 5 scoring binge highlighted by 100% free throw shooting and Globe-Trotter-like assist maker #8 Mike Yee.  In the third #22, Trinidad, set fire to the hoop scoring 15 in the quarter and led the team with 28 for the game. To put the icing on the cake #3 Casey Harmon dominated the floor with his fat ass; grabbing multiple boards, draining jumpers, and rescuing the team with his second shot put backs.  Despite the absence of inside force #30 Joe Herrera, The Bus Drivers went on to victory with a 64 to 48 win over the well dominated Iscribe Rockets.

After the game several Bus Driver team members were quoted saying, "It was weird," and "That ball sucked."  The game was covered by STVN (Sandra Television Network).  The Bus Driver's next game will be Wednesday, January 24 at 8:30 in the Tierra Linda School Gym against the Hoopsters."
