  BREWSEUM OPEN 2001

The 4th Annual Brewseum Open concluded Saturday evening as sun began to set as 17 golfers attempted to tame Champions Golf Course.  The skies threatened at times but in the end, wouldn't dare ruin the greatest tournament of the year. (matched only by the IDI)
Scorecards have been signed and totals verified.  Here's your results:

Men's Champion:  After using a modified Callaway system, reading some astrological charts and checking with his mood ring, Big J decided that he won the tournament.  That was Saturday morning; then we went out and played.  Congratulations Big J

Big J winning the tourney:

Ladies Champion:  Monica.  She's battled every year.  This year she skipped the distracting neon nail polish, found the right number of beers to match her game and proceeded to take this year's trophy.  According to Monica, "I'd just like to thank Paul and Susan for playing with me.  They bring out the best in me.  Without them, I'm nothing."

Other notable awards worth noting:
Longest drive in the fairway....well almost, it was close, the rough wasn't that high and everybody else should be ashamed for how bad they performed so the winner is:   Brandon
Longest putt:  me  I really just kicked it in with my shoe.
Most snowmen:  Jim and David Holtgraven (4 each)
Trick shot award:  Monica and Doug R.
    Jekyl & Hyde awardDavid

Closest to the pin:  no award was presented Saturday night.  However, a fan from Silt, Colorado was watching our broadcast on satellite and called in a protest.  After reviewing the video tape, checking with Snoopy I and most importantly, conferring with our legal counsel, we belatedly award the closest to the pin honor to Dave O'Brien.  Our apologies.  We just assumed he was too busy checking out lovely Rita's form to even come close to putting his ball on the green.  We were wrong.

Crazy Ben gets a little too crazy!

Post tournament celebrations quickly moved into full swing.  Darts were being thrown and ping pong balls batted around.  21 new collectibles were donated to the Brewseum.  That's about the highest donation rate we've ever had yet I also note with some disappointment that this celebration had the fewest number of empty beer bottles when the evening closed.  An interesting dichotomy.  Yes, dichotomy!
Special thanks to Paul for doing the Sports Light.  It took several glass of water but he was finally able to chew his way through all the thick, floating crap in the bottle.
I also would like to give a special Brewseum tip of the hat to Kurt and Kelley who made a special trip out after the tournament to party with us on the patio.

Final Brewseum festivities concluded at the New Albany Links Sunday afternoon.  Once again, skies threatened but we stayed dry for all 20 holes.  Yes, we somehow played 20 holes.  Probably one of the top 3 public courses in the area, it kicked my ass.  I can't carry the ball 200 yards (unless it's in the cart with me) and that made for some big numbers.  On the other hand, Paul was unstoppable.  I think that thick beer had settled somewhere in his intestines which gave him a good solid base.  There were probably 7 or 8 holes where he didn't putt.  Either his pitch was so close that even I had to concede him the putt or he'd just knock it in from the fairway.  I really hate Paul.  As far as Dave and Big J's performances, there's not much I can say.    At least they didn't beat me!

Let's do it again next year!
