High School

In my freshman year at Southeast High School, on the Junior Varsity team, I pitched in 16 of our 35 games. I had 12 wins in the 13 games I started, with 5 shutouts, one of them being a perfect, 7 inning game. In 75 innings, I had 80 strikeouts while giving up 7 walks. Of 857 pitches, 615 were strikes. The opponent's batting average against me was .121. My ERA that year was .079 and my batting average was .227.

In my sophomore year, I started 20 games. 18 of them were wins and 15 of those were shutouts. I pitched 119 innings I struck out 186 while walking 8 batters. Out of 1467 pitches thrown, 1047 were strikes. That year I gave up 4 earned runs and the opponents batting average against me was .101. My ERA was .025 and my batting average was .398.

This last year, my junior year, I went to a new high school which had just opened (Southwest High) and pitched on the Varsity team. Our win/loss record wasn't the best at 14/27, but we were competitive in almost every game we played. Most of our losses, were 0-1, 1-2 or or we only lost by 1 or 2 runs, and many went into overtime. This season I faced 809 batters in 206 innings. I had 266 strikeouts, 25 walks, and gave up 120 hits, but only 46 earned runs for an ERA of 1.46. My batting average was .267 and had the second highest RBI's on my team with 11. When not pitching, I played first base and had a fielding percentage overall of .945.

I was voted team captain during my sophomore and junior seasons, and felt honored at the end of this season to be chosen for the all-city team, was picked to be on the all-conference team for the Heartland Athletic Conference, and made honorable mention for the all-state team. I am looking forward to coming back for my senior year at Southwest.

Summer Team

I began playing softball (and pitching) when I was 8 and played with the Lincoln Swingers from 10U through 16U. Then, last year the Swingers had no 16 or 18 teams, so I played for Heidelberg's Illusion. Last year was the 4th time a team I played on went to Nationals, and went to Regionals every other year.

One of my most memorable years had to be 2001, when during the state tournament of 16U, we worked our way up through the losers bracket, coming back to play in the championship game. I pitched all 7 games that Sunday, from 8:00 in the morning until about 8:00 that night, winning 6 of them. That set a record for the Swinger Softball Organization for number of games pitched by one person in one day. We beat the last team in the winner's bracket, but then couldn't beat them again in the second game and we took second in the state, still qualifying to go to nationals that year.
