Well we finished the regular season the way we started
taking our season win – loss ratio to
11 – 2. Last Tuesday’s match was supposed to be a
foregone conclusion. However, the withdrawal of Brian due to illness and the
unavailability of Rashid meant it was back to a 6 man Blackout team.
On past form this would have little bearing on the outcome.
Unfortunately, last Tuesday was not one of those nights.
We started well with Tim & Col scoring a huge 52. The
next two pairs managed 24 a piece with the final pair scoring 12. All in all
a very defendable 112. We did well in only conceding 5 wickets and were also
helped by our opposition bowling 19 wides & no balls.
With the ‘target up in lights’, Smooth Criminals set
about chasing our score. They too only conceded 5 wickets and with only 6 in
the field we were unable to contain their batting.
Dare I say… "it was the loss we had to have"
