"Hit me baby one more time" - Sept 29,
02
Welcome to our project
portfolio and audio home page.
HouR Audio. The name "HouR" comes from the
late DC comic book hero "HouRman" who could have super powers for a single
hour. How this relates to Audio I do not know, but the name just stuck.
The Project Workshop |
Steffen Damgaard and I (Chris Tsutsui), have been working
together for almost 2 years making customized Audio/Video products for
ourselves and others. If you live in Orange County and are interested in a
quote for a job, please click on our "Contact Information" section on the

Acoustic Treatments:
|
Acoustic Panel - Absorbs reflected sounds
improving imaging and reducing ambient noise.
Hang these in the mirrored reflection
points of your listening room for optimal performance. |
|
Bass Traps - These are not support columns, but are acoustic treatments
designed to remedy the dips and peaks the room creates with standing waves.
They are four feet high, and 16 inches in diameter. They come in
fours, and are not for the weak. |

My Home Theater
THE ROOM (divided by phase)
Phase 1
Picture of my Room after
Phase 1, "BEFORE" the strip and treatment. My speakers back then were JBL
S38s.
During AB testing comparison of JBL S38
verses the DIY GR-Research AV3.

Phase 2
Phase 2: Added sound
absorbent panels and new floor standing speakers. I also added a 3 ply
vinyl roll up shade to blackout the window. I also constructed a cushion
seat that puts the listeners ear at tweeter level using a pillow, a Pepsi
crate, and foam.

Phase
3
Phase 3: Completed Bass
traps, added two to the front top corners, and two are in the rear bottom
corners. I haven't mounted them to the walls yet but they proved effective
enough for the time being.

Project Backyard
Objective: To design and create an
outdoor audio system for a Client.
Includes 4 JBL outdoor speakers powered by
a separate amplifier. Plays zone 2 sources from home theater receiver.
Wired to a Behringer 602A mixer for P.A. dual wireless microphone use.
Nady XR-61 Microphone ranged to anywhere in the backyard. Placement C,
D, A, and B are used to spread sound evenly throughout entire backyard.
Vocals are equalized to sound natural, and individual volume controls on
each pair of speakers as well as switch able on/off button. Outdoor
wire is hidden under house eves and 16" underground utilizing 14ga direct
burial monster speaker wire. |
|
Project PC Silencer
Objective: To reduce the sound of my PC
fan noise and maintain adequate ventilation without the need of new internal
components.
Project on hold, I would like to buy
new "quiet" fans, but it can be cheaper if I just built a housing unit out
of scrap wood and lined it with sound board. |
