MUSLIMAT ASSAULTED IN KLCC
Assalamualaikum,
Fuuhhh...what a
country.
kerana pakai tudung tapi setakat jeritlah. Ada juga beberapa kali, saya diekori
dgn tujuan jahat walaupun tak seseksi minah saleh tapi alhamdulillah Allah
sentiasa bersama kerana sentiasa berdoa dalam hati, mohon perlindungan.Ada juga
yg kata Bless me sister kerana ingat saya NUN (paderi wanita). Keluar rumah
sentiasalah berzikir di hati jgn lalai walau sedikit dari mengingati ALlah,
mudah2an Allah akan juga sentiasa mengingati kita.
Dear Ladies,
I was assaulted by a man in KLCC closed car park, level P3 - season's parker
side, two weeks ago (20 May 2004). I was about to enter my car, my mind already
at home, after work around 6.00 p.m. I was yanked from behind and pulled into a
dark room (exhaust room, for maintenance purposes) for what I describe as an
attempted rape and robbery. God saved me as the man was unarmed and I managed to
activate my car alarm. In his desperation, the man tried to suffocate me and
tried knocking me unconscious. He ran away after the struggle, having one of my
bags. Thank Allah that I only suffered minor cuts and bruises, totally shocked
but not injured. The man was caught by KLCC security a few minutes after. My
many thanks to a couple from Maxis who came to aid - Pushpa & hubby, thank you
for your support (Kak Pea@Maxis, pls forward this message to them. I don't know
their details).
In retrospect, I parked my car under the impression of false security. I am
almost 40, wears a long scarf and jubah. I don't wear make-up nor do I don any
jewelleries. I thought that I am low risk as a target. I park close to lifts.
The security guards zig-zag on motorbikes every few minutes. The car park is
always full. I thought that the car park & my location is safe.
What I didn't realise was that I WAS ALONE. That itself is a big risk factor. At
that particular location, the other parkers has a different enter/exit timing
from myself. Therefore at my entry or exit times only one or two persons will be
around, if I'm lucky. I also parked next to a door. Next time ladies, please
pre-empt a likelihood of a Pandora Box. A door can hide anything. In my case, a
man ready to pounce on a victim. As for my mental state : I wasn't alert. That
is another main risk factor.
Lessons Learnt :
1. Avoid secluded car parks if you are driving
alone. Get somebody to accompany you to the car, if you must. Prefer open spaces
over closed parking.
2. Be alert as you approach your car or getting out of it. Look out for anyone suspicious, especially males, alone or in a group.
3. Avoid parking spaces with obstructed view and close to escape ways (near doors, staircases, bushes, big pillars/tiang etc.). Make sure you can see your car and everything around it clearly.
4. Make sure that your car keys are in your hands when approaching your car. Don't fumble for your keys once you are already at your car. In my case, it happened in a split second. The idea is to be in your car as soon as possible. Once you are in, lock it immediately and drive away.
5. Make sure your car alarm works. Good idea to keep any safety device handy eg pepper spray.
6. The above happened in broad day light. Be
equally alert day or night.
The bottom line is - don't be in secluded areas alone. Be alert. Spend shortest
time possible in car parks.
