Globular cluster M3 in Canes Venatici.  33,000 light yrs away and containing half a million stars.  Very luminous, shining with the brightness of the equivalent of 300,000 suns, and 160 light years across.

Date:  5th July 2002

Processing:  Acquired in Astrovideo as FITS.  Stacked in Iris.  Slight Richardson-Lucy deconvolution applied in Iris to correct for trailed stars.


An early image of mine - some crude colour balancing gives a uniform yellow colour to the stars.
