The European Branch of Space Outreach is based in Salerno, Italy.
One of the main activities of Space Outreach Europe is at the moment the "Space Alphabetization Program", a project developed for Secondary Schools and developed under the patronage of the Educational Council "Assessorato alla Scuola" of "Provincia di Salerno", chaired by Mr. Pasquale
Stanzione.
Space Alphabetization Program
- First step in the "Space Alphabetization" Program concerned of a series of Space seminaries addressed to secondary school students and
teachers. A multimedia integrated tool was built and used for.
- The program was presented at the IAA/IAF/ISU/UNESCO Expert Workshop,
"Bridging Space and Education", hosted by UN/UNESCO in Paris from the 13th to the 16th of march 2003. "Space
Alphabetization" was awarded as Pilot program of great interest.
- Second step concerned of a new series of more technical seminaries. They had as main objective the know-how transfer to the students participating to the project and the goal was the creation of an interdisciplinary working group constisting of different professional curricula
students.
- Next step of the program will involve the student working group in the design, project and execution of a space related
experiment.
