California Photo Album

Welcome to the California pictures page. A little background: After a long, laborious school year, the last for two of us, Scott W., Scott L., and I decided to take a trip to California to relax. The main reason we chose California as our destination was to cheer on our fellow students who were travelling there to compete in the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Heavy Lift Airplane Competition. The basis of the competition is to build a remote controlled airplane, usually with some sort of constraint, that will carry the most weight. The KU group won the east competition in May, and as a reward the aerospace department sent them to Palmdale, California for the west competition. Unfortunately, they did not fare as well the second time around. But for the three of us, it was a great excuse for a trip, and we had a blast. Along with seeing the beach, we toured a couple of aerospace companies, visited the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Las Vegas, and LA. I would like to thank Suzy for putting us up and showing us around for two weeks, even though we overran her apartment. The following pictures are just a few of the couple hundred we took on the trip. Enjoy!

This is all of us, Scott L., Scott W., and me, at Berthoud Pass, where we stopped on the way to California.

We stopped at a scenic viewpoint somewhere in Utah on the way out. This area was like a mini-grand canyon.

This is me at the "mini-grand canyon" looking over the edge.

We also stopped at Hoover Dam on the way out.

The last group picture of the trip. We look pretty good after a night of camping, no morning showers, and a 12-hour drive. :-)
