Pukhto is the language of pakhtoons and is written as Pashto, Pushto, Pukhto or Pakhto in various regions. Pushto is one of the national languages of Afghanistan.

There are over 40 million Pushto speakers in Afghanistan, tribal areas and North West Frontier and Balochistan provinces of Pakistan.
