Tirolean provincian theatre Tiroler Landestheater Built 1844-1846 by Giuseppe Segusini as "K. k. Nationaltheater" at the site of the demolished Hof-Nationaltheater. Opened 19 April 1846 with three premieres within a week: Bauernfeld's "Ein deutscher Krieger", Nestroy's "Der Zerissene", and Donizetti's "Lucrezia Borgia". 1886 renamed "Stadttheater". 1893 renovations and electrification. 1904 rebuilding by Anton Norer. 1945 renamed "Tiroler Landestheater". 1962-1967 major interior rebuilding, renovation and extension by Erich Boltenstern. Re-opened 17 November 1967 with Raimund's "Der Alpenkönig und der Menschenfeind". Originally 1600 seats, today 881 seats. |
