You are Asperger's not autistic.
While it is true that some anti-cure activists are diagnosed with Asperger's instead of "autistic disorder" in DSM terms, there are also some who are officially diagnosed with
autism. The people who have decided that all anti-cure autistics are Asperger's and not autistic are judgeing us entirely by our writing skills on the Internet. You
cannot diagnose people over the Internet.
You write too eloquently to be autistic. Autism means a difficulty to communicate. No psychologist would seriously diagnose you with autism based on your writing skills.
Just because a person is able to write doesn't mean that person is not autistic. Temple Grandin and Donna Williams are two examples of well known authors in autism who are also
autistic people themselves. Their autism status is not disputed despite their ability to write books. Most psychologists recognize that it is possible for a person to read or
speak and still be autistic. The DSM description for autistic disorder requires either a delay in or a total lack of spoken language for a diagnosis.
You are high functioning and have no idea what low functioning autism is like.
It is true that there some of us are called "high functioning" and always have been considered high functioning, and from an early age had the ability to read and speak. There
are also some of us who are and always have been called "low functioning" by people considered autism professionals and there are some of us who were called low functioning as
children but are now called high functioning as adults. There are some autistic advocates who are able to write and type but are not able to speak. Some did not learn how to
speak until late childhood or adolesence. Some require keyboards to communicate. When reading an essay on the Internet, it isn't possible to know if the person can speak or
requires a keyboard to communicate offline. There are people who can write eloquently online but communicate very poorly offline.
You don't injure yourselves or have eating disorders and are toilet trained or have any of other profound difficulties more severely affected autistic children have.
We are a diverse group of people with a diverse range of abilities and difficulties. Some of us don't have severe difficulties like self injurous behavior or lack of toilet
training, but some of us do.
Adults who claim to be autistic are so very different from children with autism.
Autistic adults and autistic chilren are very different from each other in many ways. So are neurotypical children and neurotypical adults. Just because today's autistic adults
are in many ways different from today's autistic children doesn't mean that when today's autistic adults were children that they were different from today's autistic children.
