   The Route

The Saturn V lifted the Apollo 11 away from earth.  With The Third section, the Apollo 11 gets in orbit around earth.  The rocket orbited earth for one and a half times before it accelerated and headed for the moon.

As the Command and Service neared the moon, its rockets were fired to slow it down and get in orbit.  After many orbits, the lunar module was released and it slowed down and landed.

After take-off again, the Lunar Module connected with the Command module and was released again after everything was transferred to the Command Module.  The Service module broke away from the Command Module, and the Astronauts landed on earth.
