The year is 186- and I am just another person surviving the brutality of the War Between the States.
This is my story...
I am just a normal girl living in the 19th century. I am in the "transition" between being a girl and a woman, and with that comes unique opportunities. I must act the part of being a full time helper to my mother. I help her to cook and clean, as well as taking it upon myself to take care of my siblings. I do not wear a women's style dress, but I do not wear girl's clothing either. Everything I do is a combination of the two. I wear my skirts between the length of a girl's and woman's dress, but I cannot wear one or the other. My father believes that I am now at an appropriate age to be courted and therefore, I wear my hair up, rather than down in braids, such as young girl. I read and write, as well as play the violin. I visit with my friends at teas or whenever I can ride to their home. Life has changed since the war began, I do not think that life will every be the same again.
