The word theos in the Gospel and Letters of John

The following examines the relationship of the definite article with theos in John's writings. Except for proper names and the pronoun "I", no words are capitalized since John did not used such a convention. The aim here is to try and get clearer view of John's thought in Greek with an English speaking mindset. Revelation was not examined since the vocabulary and writing style is significantly different than the Gospel and three Letters of John.

Notes:

1. Similar in the sense of being the same. I did not use the word "equal" here because this English word carries some connotations the Greek word does not. The Greek word means "sameness." One also cannot use the phrase "the same as" to translate in the verse since this would insinuate that Jesus is the Father.

2. The sense of the verse here is saying "the Father, God, has sealed."

3. theoi (plural).

4. theou (plural).
