The Trinity on Trial An in-depth examination of a doctrine

Isaiah's God

Carefully consider the following evidence from Scripture and for each verse ask yourself if Isaiah's God was a three person being or a one person being.

O YAHWEH, You are our Father, We are the clay, and You our potter. Isaiah 64:8.

For You are our Father, though Abraham does not know us and Israel does not acknowledge us; You, O YAHWEH, are our Father, our Redeemer from of old is Your name. Isaiah 63:16.

Notice how the speaker in Isaiah 42, YAHWEH, is necessarily God the Father.

Behold, My Servant, whom I uphold; My chosen one in whom My soul delights. I have put My Spirit upon Him; He will bring forth justice to the nations. He will not cry out or raise His voice, Nor make His voice heard in the street. A bruised reed He will not break and a dimly burning wick He will not extinguish; He will faithfully bring forth justice. He will not be disheartened or crushed Until He has established justice in the earth; And the coastlands will wait expectantly for His law." Thus says YAHWEH God, Who created the heavens and stretched them out.... I am YAHWEH, that is My name; I will not give My glory to another. Isaiah 42:1-8.

This was to fulfil what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: "Behold, my servant whom I have chosen, my beloved with whom my soul is well pleased. I will put my Spirit upon him, and he shall proclaim justice to the nations. He will not wrangle or cry aloud, nor will any one hear his voice in the streets; he will not break a bruised reed or quench a smoldering wick, till he brings justice to victory; and in his name will the nations hope." Matthew 12:17-20.
