Revised Calvinist Version

What the Bible says in contrast to what Calvinists want it to say.

Have you ever heard the phrase, "looking at the world through rose-colored glasses?" The Revised Calvinist Version is intended to illustrate the eisegetical means Calvinists employ to interpret the Scriptures. It is a depiction of the concepts which Calvinists choose to see when they read the words which are in the Bible. Because of their belief system, what a Calvinist sees in the Bible and what it actually says are two different things. Calvinists have a strong tendency to lay a grid of their own theology over the Scriptures before they read it. They choose to conform the Bible to their belief system rather than conform their belief system to the Bible and convince themselves they are being true to truth. Put another way, Calvinists like to read everything through their TULIP colored glasses in order to ensure all interpretations suit the needs of their belief system and generally refuse to view the Bible without them. You will also notice that many of their tendentious interpretions concern a cause and effect relationship. The terms "chosen," "elect" and "predestination" are also used in the right column as Calvinists define these terms.

Although they read these words......they choose to think these concepts
Mt 1:21 And you shall call his name 'Jesus' for he will save his people [the Jews] from their sins. See Mt 15:24. And you shall call his name 'Jesus' for he will save [the previously chosen] elect from their sins.
Mt 15:24 I only came for the lost house of Israel. See Mt. 10:2-3.I only came for the yet unsaved elect of the house of Israel.
Mt 20:28 The Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and give his life as a ransom for many. The Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and give his life as a ransom for the elect.
Mt 22:14 Many are called but few are chosen. Many are called but few are effectually called.
Mt 24:13He who stands firm til the end will be saved. He who is saved will stand firm til the end.
Jn 1:12 But to those who received him, who believed in his name, he gave authority to become children of God, who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor the will of man, but of God. But to those who received him, those who were born again children of God, he gave power to believe in his name, who were born not because they had believed in his name but because God had predestined them to be born again.
Jn 1:29 Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the elect.
John 3:16For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son so that whosoever may believe in him will not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the elect that he gave his only begotten Son so that the elect who can believe in him will not perish but have eternal life.
Ac 16:31Believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.Be saved and you will believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ.
Acts 16:30-31 "'Sirs, what must I do to be saved?' They replied, 'Believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved." "'Sirs, what must I do to be believe?' They replied, 'Be saved upon the Lord Jesus Christ and you will believe.'" 1 Cor 2:14 The natural man does not accept the things which comes from the Spirit God for it is foolishness to him and he cannot know because these things are spiritually discerned. The unregenerate man does not accept the things which come from the Spirit God for it is foolishness to him and he cannot understand Reformed doctrines because it is spiritually discerned. Galatians 1:8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be anathema. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than five point Calvinism, label him an accursed Arminian. 1 Timothy 2:4 This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior who wills all men to be saved and to come to the full knowledge of the truth. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior who wills all sorts of men to be saved and to come to the full knowledge of the truth. 2 Timothy 2:10-13 Therefore I endure everything because of the elect, that they may obtain salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory. Faithful is the word. If we died with him we will also live with him. If we endure we will reign with him. If we disown him he will also disown us. If we are faithless he will remain faithful for he cannot disown himself. Therefore I endure everything because of the yet unregenerate elect, that they may obtain this new birth salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory. Faithful is the word. If we died with him we will also live with him. If we endure we will reign with him. If it was possible to disown him he would still not disown us. If we are faithless he will remain faithful for he cannot disown himself. 2 Peter 1:10-11 Therefore rather, be diligent to make your calling and election sure for in doing these things you will never fall. Therefore rather, be reminded that your calling and election is sure for you will do these things and you will never fall. 1 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow concerning his promise as some men reckon slowness but is patient with us not willing that anyone should perish but all should come to repentance. The Lord is not slow concerning his promise as some men reckon slowness but is patient with the yet unsaved elect not willing that any of the elect should perish but all the elect should come to repentance. 1 John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins, not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. And he is the propitiation for the sins of we Jews, not for we Jews only but also for the sins of all the Gentile nations.
