Sudsy Scentsations
Sudsy Scentsations began in 1999 when I was looking for a unique gift
idea for Christmas. I had made a batch of soap years before and thought
it would make a nice gift. Everyone who tried it fell in love with my
soap and I’ve been making soap ever since. After much experimentation
I’ve come up with my current formula which is both cleansing and moisturizing.
All soap is made with lye
When you see the words “sodium tallowate” or
sodium cocoate” on a bar of your favorite soap, that means it was made by
combining tallow with sodium hydroxide (lye) or coconut oil with sodium
hydroxide (lye). The reason old fashioned “lye soap” could be harsh has
to do with the amount of lye used to make that soap.
If the soapmaker used too much lye, the soap was harsh and drying to
skin. Extra oils are used in my soap to make an extremely gentle bar of
soap. No lye remains in a well-made bar of soap!
Why should you use my soap?
-
All products are tested for mildness and used by myself and my family.
-
I make all my soap by hand in small batches ensuring a quality product.
-
Because all my products are handmade by me, there are no unnecessary chemicals
or harmful additives in my soap.
-
My soap retains its glycerin content. In commercial soap production, glycerin
is taken from the soap and sold to the cosmetics industry. Some glycerin may
later be returned to the soap, but not as much as it originally would have had.
-
My products are environmentally friendly.
-
No petroleum products are used.
-
My products are unique – each bar of soap is handcrafted, hand cut and has its
own character.
