**Christian Music** Music with REAL Meaning!
POSITIVE INFLUENCES
As a kid growing up in a christian family, my parents were very particular about the sort of things we watched and listened to.
I grew up pretty much oblivious to popular music culture until my early teens when unbeknown to my parents I secretly began listening to a secular radio station because it was where all the supposedly "good" music was. I soon learnt otherwise!
Now to be honest back in the early 90's "Christian Music" wasn't much chop - there was very little variety and that which existed only varied from mediocre to "not even good enough to be called mediocre" (please no offence meant to any pre 90's christian artists).
Fortunately the christian music industry has come along in leaps and bounds over the last decade and now has something to cater for nearly all tastes in music.
Music is one of those things that is universally enjoyed by all both young and old. What we listen to, reflects our beliefs and our moods. In short it influences the way we think.
Many people say "they don't listen to the words" but i'm afraid lyrics come part and parcel with the music. While i don't condem the secular music industry as a whole. We as christians must guard our hearts from all evil, which begins by guarding our ears and watching what we allow to penetrate into the depths of our soul.
Just remember that what's POPULAR isn't always what is BEST for you!
