Hi Chris:

I spent a lot of the day getting ready for the interview tomorrow with the Kamehameha school for the ED program. Janelle fixed me up nicely. I got my hair and nails done. It has been a busy day and I still have to go to church tonight. Last night I couldnt sleep until 3:00 and I had to get up by 8:30. I havent received a call from the charter school yet. I dont know if that is good news or not. I'll give them until tomorrow afternoon before I call. The curiosity is killing me. I am in the middle with whether I want the job or not because it is going to be a lot of work where I will have no time to study for the GRE or have any free time, however it will be a decent income especially for Hilo.

I love and miss you

Hi Chris:

I called the charter school and they said I am still in the running for the job. They havent come to a decision yet.

Today I went to Kamehameha schools with 6 other student teachers from the ED program to check out the campus. Those kids are SPOILED. The faculty is also. Aside from long hours, which teachers of the DOE must do anyway, they have way better amenities. The teachers lounge is insane. They have full on computer labs, better than UHH for each of the elementary levels, junior high, and high school. There are three gyms. The classrooms are elegant. The only thing that was strange for me to get used to was looking at the picture of the student body and teachers. Everybody is brown. There are no white and no black people at all. I like some diversity. I understand that this school specializes in Hawaiian education, I'm just not used to no diversity. All the other student teachers were feeling very fortunate to be part of the team. At the end of the tour when we were all walking out to our cars I asked why we were picked to be the student teachers at such a high maka maka school. They said they had to petition. I told them I didn't do that and they looked offended. I didnt realize this was such a priveleged position. In fact, Marcia and the faculty warned us to be humble with the other ED students about the position because they would be jealous. The school also wants us to be substitute teachers as well to make some money on the side. I'm still deciding.

Did you receive the letter I sent you yet?

Hi

I had an enchanting conversation with you last night. It was encouraging to hear your assurance of my salvation. Because of my obdurate opinions, the bible studies I must transcend to become purified are dragging along intermittently. I am a ceaseless inquirer. This dissonant behavior makes a particular topic we previously reviewed persist into the next immersion, thus postponing the process for the qualification of my catharsis. It is certain that you will be home by the time I'm prepared to end my current desiccation. I anticipate your presence since you were a consequential determinant in my conviction.

I am trying to practice these extensive vocabulary words for the GRE. I hope it didnt give you a headache. Do you realize that it is only 18 days before your back? Actually probably 17 by the time you read this. In our old days together, that would have been an eternity. Now it seems so soon. Is there something wrong with this picture?

Hi Chris:

I got hired at Hilo High. Now there is the dichotomy. I definitely eliminated the ED program. Now I really need your advice. I need to respond by tomorrow, so hopefully if you see this you will write me tonight. Thank you.

Hilo High gave me only one day to decide, so please write me about your experience with the teachers there. Were they supportive of you, did they have time for you, were they good to each other? I told the principal about the other offer and she immediately offered me the job there. The job at Hilo High will also be full time and the same exact pay. The difference is, I will only be teaching two classes, both algebra, whereas the charter school wants me to teach algebra I, II, geometry, chemistry and physics. With Hilo, I'll obviously only need to make two lesson plans on very similar subject matter verses 5 very different matter in the charter school. Hilo has their own books, I need to order books for the charter school. However, I will have 30 students in Hilo and 15 in the charter. In Hilo, I only teach 9th and 10th graders. In the charter, I'll teach 7th through 12th.

The benefit of Hilo is that I will know how to teach there more easily. It is the method of teaching that is traditional. I only have two lesson plans to make, but I have a lot more kids. I will have more freedom with my creativity at the charter school. It will be taught more hands on. I will be required to take them on field trips, but this is a lot more challenging and maybe tiring because I will not know how to do it. Plus I have to make so many lesson plans for so many subjects and be creative for so many.

Please help!
