NIGHTLIFE EP
REVIEW

*****

-- Please note that this review may contain spoilers --

Nightlife is very much about getting out of the house and enjoying life to the full. The new downtown area provides a host of varied locations to please the needs of any sim; be it strutting their stuff on the dance floor, showing pins who's boss in the bowling alley, or singing along to their favorite tunes at the karaoke bar.

The player can build their own downtown destinations from the ground up if they want to and furnish them with over 125 new objects including a DJ booth, electro dance sphere, bowling alley, karaoke machine, and more, most of which can be bought both downtown and for the home. The game also comes with a huge number of decorative neighborhood items to help you develop a city-life theme such as skyscrapers, spotlights and aircraft

Of course, no self respecting sim would hit the town without the latest fashions. The game introduces a number of new fashions for both male and female, as well as a few new hairstyles.

This theme will not come as a surprise to those who have played the Sims: Hot Date, and in many aspects Nightlife is very similar.

As a standard, each of the sims expansion packs have featured a supernatural creature for your sim to meet, or become. What better an introduction to the night-life than that of vampires? If bitten, your sim will become a creature of the night, unable to survive the light, they must sleep in their coffins during the day, but enjoy infinite motives during the night They also have the ability to transform into bats.

The game provides a host of new social challenges, such as dating and outings which are scored on meters. A scoring board will appear in the top right of the screen when you initiate an outing or date, and your score will change depending on how the evening is going. With this system you can gain rewards from expensive gifts to random skill points. The only downside is that the formal outings and dates are timed, and while the time limit will increase if you do well, it still never seems like quite long enough.

Because the game revolves so much around sim social lives, there is a vast array of new and entertaining social interactions to help make friends or woo that special someone. And if your sim isn't the greatest socialite, they can always impress with their fancy new cars!

That's right, the Sims can now own their own cars ranging from a cheap run-around to shiny & sporty. Sims can drive to work or school instead of waiting for the carpool, and you can also travel to community lots without the need for a taxi. Sims can also leave the lot for a relaxing drive if they wish. Cars must be placed on the new driveways, and though it may be awkward to place this on existing lots, it can help to make houses look more realistic. As expected, creators have relished in the introduction of cars, and there are now hundreds of different models to choose from online.

Ultimately I found this to be a highly entertaining expansion pack and it involves a lot of content to keep you busy for weeks!
Definitely worth a look.
