Monday, June 21st 2004, - Amsterdam, Holland

Started today off w/ the Van Gogh museum. Had to wait in a bit of a queue. Pretty neat - he painted in a few different styles over his lifetime. Some of his stuff I really like, while other stuff I didn't care for at all ... which I guess might show how different some of his paintings are from one another.
Next we went to the nearby FOAM exhibit; a gallery that hosts temporary photography exhibits. One exhibit was general Amsterdam shots by a certain guy, another was local landscapes, one on sports/Olympics, & the last exhibit was the Frank (of Anne Frank) family photos. Nice to see an art gallery that isn't just paintings :)
Geo & I were looking forward to going to Madame Tussaud's wax museum after that; they have all sorts of celebrities & we've heard it's pretty cool ... but when we got in line we found out it costs 23 Euros! That's like 35$CAD. A little rich for our blood, unfortunately :( So instead we did some window shopping along a main touristy street & had an espresso at a cafe where we could sit out on the patio & people-watch.
On our way back to our hostel we ran into a guy that we'd met in Corfu, Greece. So we stopped to chat w/ him for a while. Crazy to run into someone you met 3 weeks ago in a completely different country!
