Saturday , June 5th 2004, - Athens, Greece

Okay - I have just fixed the photos link - it takes you to a more manageable view of the photos if anyone wants to see them in a not so gynormous format.
Woke up at 8:30 as planned feeling very tired after last night's drinking, so Geo & I decided to sleep more & do Athens stuff today & the Delphi daytrip tomorrow.
Wne to the Acropolis w/ Robin & Dave. It's up on top of this huge hill ... checked out all the ruins & sights including the Parthenon, the Temple of Zeus & the stadium from the 1896 Olympics. Very neat stuff, but a hot day to be up on a hilltop w/ no refuge form the broiling sun! Also walked around the National Gardens which look more like a forest than a garden & has this really ghetto tiny zoo in it ... w/ like penned pigeons?! It was kinda' sad b/c the animals looked SO dirty & had no room, no water & no food that we could see.
Went back to the hostel for a bit of a nap. Phoned Nick (yay!!!). Walked to a cheap take-away food place in the area that my book suggested. Couldn't finish both my gyro & the Greek salad :S (The Greek salad here is served w/ this huge thick slice of feta instead of having it crumbled all over ... you get so much feta .. mmmmm). We brought our food back to the hostel & ate in the courtyard while chatting w/ 2 girls from Australia who are working in England.
